  50. |    PROBLEM: -COMM695 on Downstream Workstations.
  51. |             -ACS1231 on Downstream Workstations.
  52. |             -XID failure
  53. |             -Only some Downstream Workstations Connect.
  54. |             -RANDOM COMM695 on Downstream Workstations.
  55. |             -Message LT20030 on the Gateway Workstation
  56. |              in the LANTRAN.LOG.
  57. |             -Cannot establish sessions with more than
  58. |              64 workstations.
  59. |             -ACS0109 OtherLAN error
  60. |    SOLUTION: On the CM SNA GATEWAY workstation, change
  61. |              the following configuration items for the
  62. |              Token-ring card connecting the Downstream
  63. |              workstations:
  64. |
  65. |              -Use the REFERENCE DISKETTE and set the
  66. |               Token-Ring card to use a shared RAM SIZE
  67. |               OF 64K.
  68. |
  69. |              -In the CM configuration for the Token-Ring
  70. |               (SNA) Data Link Control change the Max. number
  71. |               of link stations to 128. (Highest value)
  72. |
  73. |              -In the CM configuration for the Lan Adapter
  74. |               and Protocol support, change the Max. number
  75. |               of link stations to 255. (Highest value)
  76. |
  77. |              -In the LAN adapter and protocol support (LAPS)
  78. |               IEEE 802.2 profile increase the Timer Control
  79. |               Blocks setting to 128.
  80. |
  81. |              -The ACS0109 OtherLAN error is
  82. |               caused by not enough link stations
  83. |               defined for IEEE 802.2.
  84. |               The message ACS0109 is from OTHERLAN
  85. |               (OTRALANF);it usually means that
  86. |               there are not enough link stations
  87. |               for RDSLAN. The formula that you
  88. |               can use to determine if this is the
  89. |               case is:
  90. |
  91. |               (MLS from 802.2) - (MLS from NetBios)
  92. |               - (MLS from DLC Profiles for IBMTRNET)
  93. |               * congestion_tolerance
  94. |
  95. |               Note: MLS stands for
  96. |                     Maximum number of Link Stations
  97. |
  98. |               If this is not greater than 1, then
  99. |               you need to increase the number of
  100. |               link stations for 802.2 or decrease
  101. |               them for NetBios or DLC Profile.
  102. |               You should also be aware that if you
  103. |               change the value on the IEEE 802.2
  104. |               screen for Maximum Number of Link
  105. |               Stations, that the actual value
  106. |               used (which is in the .INI file) may
  107. |               not get changed. To verify the change
  108. |               browse C: IBMCOM CM_Config_file_name.INI
