  94. |2. 06/30/92  ES/1 CM CONFIGURATION FILE MANAGER ( COPYCFG )
  95. |
  96. |             COPYCFG is a utility that will manage the
  97. |             configuration files mentioned in Item 1 above.
  98. |             COPYCFG can be used to copy the configuration
  99. |             files to diskette or load the configuration
  100. |             file from a diskette.
  101. |
  102. |             COPYCFG is menu driven or can be executed with
  103. |             parameters from the OS/2 Command Line or
  104. |             from the "COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER ICON VIEW
  105. |             WINDOW".
  106. |
  107. |             COPYCFG is installed as part of the utilities
  108. |             package.  To install this command, click on
  109. |             "Extended Services ICON", then click on
  110. |             "ADD OR REMOVE ICON".  This will present the
  111. |             "Extended Services Install/Remove Menu".
  112. |             Select 1 "Install Communications Manager".
  113. |             In "Communications Manager Installation Menu",.
  114. |             Select 2 "Additional Features", then "Utilities".
  115. |             The ES/1 Installation diskettes will be requested.
  116. |
  117. |             For more information reference COPYCFG, under
  118. |             BASIC CONFIGURATION SERVICES AND INSTALLATION,
  119. |             in the online ES COMMAND REFERENCE.

  121. |3. 06/30/92  The ES/1 installation program (ESINST) places the
  122. |             IBMCOM directory on the boot disk.  If CM
  123. |             is installed on another drive, the IBMCOM will
  124. |             still be on the boot drive.

  126. |4. 07/22/92  On page 5-27 in the Communications Manager
  127. |             Configuration Guide it says that resources
  128. |             can deleted from the configuration files, but
  129. |             NOT from an active environment.  Resources
  130. |             could be the Define_CNOS in the .NDF file.

  132. |    D. FREQUENT PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

  136. |   PROBLEM:
  137. |        ESINST fails due to MINOR INCONSISTENCIES in the 1.3
  138. |        CFG file being migrated.  The minor inconsistencies
  139. |        were acceptable under CM 1.3.
  140. |
  141. |   SOLUTION: JR05999 closed as a suggestion.
  142. |
  143. |   CIRCUMVENTION:
  144. |        After the failure, perform an ESINST command again.
  145. |        When prompted, request Advanced Installation,
  146. |        then choose to install default configuration files.
  147. |        After the installation is completes.
  148. |        Try to upgrade the EE 1.3 configuration
  149. |        file via the UPGRADE CONFIGURATION FILES
  150. |        option of fullscreen Communications
  151. |        Manager. Any errors that occur will cause
  152. |        messages to be generated. Examination of these
  153. |        messages in MESSAGE.DAT or ERROR.DAT
  154. |        should indicate corrections
  155. |        which can be made to the EE 1.3 .CFG
  156. |        on a 1.3 system so that it will
  157. |        upgrade successfully on an ES 1.0 system.

  161. |   PROBLEM:
  162. |        Communications Managers (CM) receives an ACS1231
  163. |        message.  Look in the Error Log.  If you see Type
  164. |        001B Subtype 00000700, locate the sense code in the
  165. |        hex data.  To find the sense code go to the end of
  166. |        the first line of hex data and count backwards 14
  167. |        characters, then start reading left to right, the
  168. |        first 8 characters you read is the sense code.
  169. |
  170. |   SOLUTION:
  171. |        A.  If the sense code is 08090049 and CM is
  172. |            connecting to an AS/400 see INFO APAR II06157
  173. |
  174. |        B.  If the sense code is 0806002C the FQ_CP_NAME
  175. |            is not unique on the network, or the
  176. |            FQ_ADJACENT_CP_NAME is spelled wrong
  177. |            in the .NDF file.
  178. |
  179. |            Change the FQ_CP_NAME in the DEFINE_LOCAL_CP
  180. |            verb to something unique on the network.
  181. |                             - OR -
  182. |            Correct the FQ_ADJACENT_CP_NAME in the
  183. |            DEFINE_LOGICAL_LINK verb.
  184. |
  185. |        C.  If the sense code is 08090054 the
  186. |            ADJACENT_NODE_TYPE is not correct in the
  187. |            .NDF file
  188. |
  189. |            Correct the ADJACENT_NODE_TYPE in the
  190. |            DEFINE_LOCAL_LINK verb.
  191. |
  192. |
  193. |   NOTE:  To change the .NDF file in the APPN
  194. |          subdirectory of the CMLIB directory:
  195. |
  196. |               1.  Make a backup copy of your .NDF file.
  197. |               2.  Make changes/corrections, using an
  198. |                   editor.
  199. |               3.  Verify the new configuration.
  200. |               4.  Stop, then Restart Communications Manager

  217. |    PROBLEM: Lost ES/1 ICONS.

  219. |    SOLUTION:
  220. |    1) Enter "REINST" from OS/2 command prompt enter
  221. |       or select "Add or remove
  222. |       features" from the Extended services folder.
  223. |    2) Select "1. Install Communications Manager"
  224. |       from Extended Services Install/Remove Menu
  225. |    3) Select "1. Configuration files"
  226. |       from Communications Manager Install Menu
  227. |    4) Select "Esc=Cancel"

  237. |    Problem:  Unable to connect ES/1 CM workstation
  238. |              through 3174 cluster control unit.
  239. |    Solution: Apply Configuration Support C microcode
  240. |              to the 3174.

  244. |    Problem: SYS1201 message on CM startup indicating
  245. |     that NETBIOS.OS2 driver was not installed,
  246. |     and that the line in the CONFIG.SYS file that
  247. |     reads 'DEVICE=C: IBMCOM PROTOCOL NETBIOS.OS2
  248. |     is ignored.  This can apparently occur for other
  249. |     device statements as well.
  250. |
  251. |     The cause is that Lan Requester/Server has inserted
  252. |     an IFS statement before the statement for NETBIOS.
  253. |    Solution:  Move the statement
  254. |     'IFS=C: IBMLAN NETPROG NETWKSTA.200 /I:C: IBMLAN /N'
  255. |     to a position after the DEVICE stmt for NETBIOS.
  256. |
  257. | 7: 07/06/93 ESINST fails by returning to the OS/2 prompt,
  258. |             various other problems may also be encountered.
  259. |    Check that the PATHs (LIBPATH, PATH, and DPATH)
  260. |    in CONFIG.SYS are correct. LIBPATH, PATH, and DPATH
  261. |    should be defined together without any other statements
  262. |    between them.
