- Install CD ROM driver, using OS/2 Selective Install (choose System
Setup / Selective Install)
- Choose "CDROM"
- Choose "Other", because the Panasonic 563 CD in your Value Point
is not one of the options
- It will ask you to insert the CD ROM diskette - you should insert
the SoundBlaster diskette you acquired from the BBS.
- Follow the instructions indicated - it will ask for the OS/2 2.1
Diskette 5 during the process.
- Modify your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file as follows:
- Delete or REM out the following lines:
DEVICE=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q
DEVICE=C:\OS2\CDROM\SYS /Q /N:4
- The following lines must be in your OS/2 config.sys file for
the CD ROM to work. The "IFS=..." line may already be in your OS/2
CONFIG.SYS file. If it is, group it with the lines below; otherwise,
add it. WARNING: place these lines near the bottom of your OS/2
CONFIG.SYS file-- there may be problems if you place them near the
top.
- Add
REM --- NEXT 4 LINES ARE FOR OS/2 CD-ROM SUPPORT
BASEDEV=OS2CDROM.DMD (DO NOT SPECIFY A PATH!)
BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD /P:220
IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q
DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCDROM.SYS
*NOTE: THE /P:220 SPECIFIES THE I/O BASE ADDRESS USED FOR THE
SOUND BLASTER 16 CARD.
- Reboot your VP machine
- Delete Loom, Monkey Island, Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffer and
Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego ICONS from the CD games group
under Windows Program Manager. We will run these games from the
OS/2 Desktop to run them full screen. Additionally, "Where in the
World is Carmen SanDiego" will crash under Windows in this
configuration.
- Create a folder in OS/2 for these DOS CD games, using the OS/2
Templates. Entitle it suitably, such as "DOS CD GAMES" using
Folder - settings. Insert the games as program objects in this
folder.
