  5. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DOCUMENT FOR FULL EXPLANATION OF PROCEDURES

  8. Before you install the Sound Blaster adapter into the MMPM/2
  9. system, you must know the interrupt level, I/O port address, and
  10. for Soundblaster Pro, the DMA channels.  These values were shown
  11. when you installed the adapter for your computer.  If you do not
  12. know these values, you can do the following:
  13.  
  14.   On a Micro Channel computer, run the Reference Diskette and
  15.   look at the system configuration.
  16.  
  17.   On a non-Micro Channel computer, check the Jumpers on your
  18.   Sound Blaster.
  19.

  21. of Using the Operating System and your Sound Card Manual.

  23. The following Sound Blasters are supported for use with MMPM/2
  24. under OS/2 2.1 and 2.11:
  25.  
  26.     IBM Audio Capture and Playback Adapter (ACPA)
  27.     Soundblaster           2.0
  28.     Soundblaster           16 bit card with jumpers
  29.                              (CT1700 series)
  30.     Soundblaster Pro       Model - CT1330
  31.     Soundblaster Pro II    Model - CT1600
  32.     Pro Audio Spectrum     16
  33.     Pro Audio Spectrum     Studio

  35. Audio Support in WIN-OS/2 and DOS sessions is dependent on
  36. installed drivers.  You should install the audio adapter driver
  37. that came with your audio adapter. When installing audio support
  38. for WIN-OS/2, be sure to install both DOS and Windows device
  39. drivers. Configure both drivers to use the same interrupt level
  40. and DMA channel.

  44. AUDIO CAPTURE and PLAYBACK ADAPTER (ACPA)
  45.  
  46.   The following drivers are available with the ACPA:
  47.       ACPADD.SYS
  48.       ACPADD2.SYS
  49.       ACPAK12.SYS
  50.       ACPA.DRV
  51.   The latest updates are available on the IBM PCC BBS.
  52.  
  53.   MMPM/2 installs ACPA support for OS/2 only, not WIN-OS/2 or DOS
  54.  
  55.   There are two ways to get DOS ACPA support in DOS sessions:
  56.     1. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file.
  57.     2. Add DEVICE=C:\ACPAK12.SYS
  58.     3. Save and exit the CONFIG.SYS file.
  59.     4. Copy the ACPAK12.SYS file to the C:\ directory.
  60.     5. Restart the system to activate the changes.
  61.                            OR
  62.     1. Point to the DOS full-screen or window object.
  63.     2. Click mouse button 2.
  64.     3. Select the arrow to the right of Open.
  65.     4. Select Settings.
  66.     5. Select the Session tab.
  67.     6. Select DOS Settings.
  68.     7. Select DOS_DEVICE.
  69.     8. Type C:\ACPAK12>SYS in the Value field.
  70.     9. Select Save.
  71.    10. Double-click on the title-bar icon to close the notebook.
  72.    11. Copy the ACPAK12.SYS file to the C:\ directory.

  74.   To install WIN-OS/2 ACPA support:
  75.     1. Access the Control Panel in WIN-OS/2 Main.
  76.     2. Select Drivers.
  77.     3. Select Add.
  78.     4. Select Unlisted or Updated Drivers.
  79.     5. Select OK.
  80.     6. Insert the disk containing the ACPA driver into drive A.
  81.     7. Type A:
  82.     8. Select OK.
  83.     9. When the Add Unlisted or Updated Driver screen is
  84.        displayed, select the M-Audio sound driver.
  85.    10. Select OK.
  86.    11. When the IBM ACPA Driver Setup screen is displayed, select
  87.        Proper Input Source.
  88.               DEFAULT IS MIC NORMAL
  89.        Select OK.
  90.    12. Select Restart Now.
  91.    13. Open WIN-OS/2 session.
  92.    14. Select the Control Panel in WIN-OS/2 Main.
  93.    15. Select MIDI Mapper.
  94.    16. Select the down arrow for Name.
  95.    17. Select Extended MIDI for ACPA.
  96.    18. Select Edit.
  97.    19. Select Yes.
  98.    20. Select port name for all 16 SRC channels to be IBM M-Audio
  99.        MIDI SYNTH.
  100.    21. Select OK.
  101.    22. Select Yes.
  102.    23. Select Close.
  103.    24. Close the WIN-OS/2 session.

  105.   MMPM/2 installs Sound Blaster and Pro Audio Spectrun 16 support
  106.     for OS/2 only, not WIN-OS/2 or DOS.
  107.   To add WIN-OS/2 Sound Blaster support:
  108.     1. Install the DOS device driver following the instructions
  109.        that came with the adapter. Use and OS/2 DOS session for
  110.        the install.
  111.     2. Install the Windows driver.
  112.     NOTE:  Be sure to use the same I/O address, interrupt, and
  113.            DMA settings used during installation of the DOS
  114.            drivers.

  118. ERROR MESSAGE VDMAD.386 NOT FOUND
  119.  
  120.     1.  Try running Windows Application in Standard Mode.
  121.  
  122.     2.  If Specific Application needs WIN-OS/2 in Enhanced mode
  123.         try the following:
  124.           Debug
  125.             A. Open a DOS Window or DOS Full Screen.
  126.             B. Go into the OS2\MDOS and backup VDMA.SYS
  127.             C. Then type: DEBUG VDMA.SYS
  128.                           E 1C01 2  <enter>
  129.                           W <enter>
  130.                           Q <enter>
  131.             D. Then type EXIT.
  132.  
  133. If this suggestion does not work and you are still having
  134. problems with the WIN-OS/2 session, contact your vendor as they
  135. should be able to assist you in obtaining the latest and correct
  136. drivers for your particular product.
