  3. Print Problem?
  4.  
  5. 1)   Is the printer power cord plugged in?
  6.  
  7. 2)   Is the power turned on?
  8.  
  9. 3)   Is the customer doing serial or parallel printing?
  10.  
  11. 3a)  Does the printer parallel or serial data cable connect the printer and
  12. the system unit?
  13.  
  14. 4)    Is the printer online?
  15.  
  16. 5)    Does on printer exist on the OS/2 Desktop?
  17.  
  18. 6)    Go into the 0S/2 System/Drives/<OS/2 boot> drive folder and drag the file
  19. AUTOEXEC.BAT or any ASCII file within a drives folder to the printer on the OS/2
  20.  Desktop. Does the file print?
  21.  
  22. 7)   Does pressing PrntScrn from the OS/2 Desktop result in the printer  printin
  23. g?

  26. WIN-OS/2 related print problems.

  28. 8)    To Install appropriate WIN-OS/2 printer device driver:
  29.         Select OS/2 System
  30.         Select Command Prompts
  31.         Select Win-OS/2 Full Screen
  32.         Select Win-OS/2 Main
  33.         Select Control Panel
  34.         Select Printers
  35.         Select "Use Print Manager"
  36.         Does "Default Printer" specify your printer?
  37.         If no, then:
  38.                      Is your printer in list of "Installed Printers"?
  39.                      If yes, then:
  40.                            Select your printer
  41.                          If no, then:
  42.                                Select "Add"
  43.                                Select appropriate printer driver
  44.                                Select "Install"
  45.                                Follow directions to install printer driver
  46.                              Select "Set as Default Printer"
  47.  
  48. 9)  To configure printer port connections:
  49.            Select "Connect"
  50.            In list of "Ports",
  51.                      Select LPTX.OS2 (for appropriate printer port)
  52.                     Deselect "Fast Printing Direct to Port"
  53.                    Select "OK"

  55. 10) Select "Setup".
  56.             For Hewlett Packard Printers,
  57.                    For "Memory":
  58.                      Select amount of memory in printer
  59.                    For "Cartridges (2 max)":
  60.                      Select "None" unless cartidges are installed
  61.                    Select "Options"
  62.                      Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
  63.                      Select "OK"
  64.                    Select "Fonts"
  65.                      Make sure "No fonts installed"
  66.                      Select "Exit"
  67.              For other printers,
  68.                    Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
  69.                    Select "OK"

  71. 11) For errors in UNIDRV.DLL check \<windir>\system\UNIDRV.DLL,
  72.          Date - 4/24/93, Size - 119344 bytes.

  74. 12) Are any other fonts installed? Check the [fonts] section in SYSTEM.INI. Font
  75. s are usually installed in the \<windir>\system subdirectory. TrueType fonts hav
  76. e a .FOT and .TTF extention. Adobe fonts have a .PFM extention and are located i
  77. n the \PSFONTS\PFM subdirectory.Adobe type 1 fonts are the only adobe fonts that
  78.  work with WINOS/2. Some fonts may not be supported by OS/2.

  80. 13)  For serial printing connect WINOS2 printer to LPTX.0S2. At an os/2
  81. command prompt type,  "SPOOL /D:LPTx /O:COMx. If this fixes problem, add the abo
  82. ve SPOOL statement to STARTUP.CMD.

  84. 14)  Postscript winos2 printer driver requires postscript driver installed
  85. on the OS/2 side.

  87. 15)  In general, use matching printer drivers on OS/2 and WINOS2. However, if th
  88. e WINOS2 driver is not postscript, you can use IBMNULL on the OS/2 side.

  90. 16)  No shades of grey or cross hatching. try disabling parallel port arbitratio
  91. n.
