*****************
If you upgrade to NetWare from another version and then need to
return to that version, make sure you use the version of VREPAIR
that matches the operating system you have installed.
Before using VREPAIR, if the file server has crashed, run
the hardware diagnostics.
VREPAIR is used to recover damaged or corrupted data from a
volume on a file server. Bad data can be created on a volume
by hardware errors or by improperly "downing" a file server.
Improperly downing a file server can happen when the file
server is turned off or loses power before you issue the DOWN
command at the console.
VREPAIR has three different options, which you select with a
series of questions. With the options you can obtain a printed
report of any errors or corrections made, have VREPAIR test
for bad blocks, or recover lost blocks as files.
You can find VREPAIR on the NetWare Operating System-2 diskette or
you can download VREPAIR from the PCC Bulletin Board or Talklink
if you have access to a modem.
There are copies of VREPAIR on CompuServe that you can download to
your machine. These utilities are meant to go with their respective
versions of NetWare.
