Solutions for REQ0815, SYS0059, and NWD0 7/14/94
NWREQ815 - Common Solutions for REQ0815 and NWD0115 Errors
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting REQ0815, NWD0115, and SYS0059 errors
The red screen REQ0815 error is usually (but not always) accompanied
by OS/2 SYS0059 error on bootup.
NOTE: NWD0115 error appears with Version 2.0 of the NetWare Client
for OS/2 and indicates the same type problems that the REQ0815 does.
So if you are getting an NWD0115 error, you can check the areas
mentioned in this document, but you need to upgrade to Version 2.1
of the NetWare Client for OS/2.
For REQ0815 error, check the following:
1. Hardware: If you can boot DOS and load the DOS ODI drivers (LSL,
<your NIC driver>, IPXODI, and NETX) to connect to the network,
then the problem is with OS/2. If you cannot connect with DOS, you
have a hardware problem or conflict.
A. Check interrupt, RAM address, ROM address, and shared RAM size
as appropriate.
B. For OS/2, do NOT use interrupts 2 or 9.
C. The first frame type listed in the NET.CFG Link Driver section
must match the first frame type loaded and bound on the NetWare
server that you try to attach to. The Ethernet default for
NetWare 3.11 is 802.3; for NetWare 3.12 and NetWare 4.0x, it is
802.2.
2. Do not have a LASTDRIVE= statement in the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file.
If you have one, remove it.
3. If you are connecting to a LAN that does not have a NetWare 4.0x
server, turn Directory Services and Packet Burst OFF in the Netware
Requester section of the NET.CFG by adding the following lines:
Netware Requester
directory services off
packet burst off
4. If you have other software that tries to use a single network
card for its communications protocols, you must FIRST get the
other software to load properly before attempting a coexistence
solution (using ODINSUP or ODI2NDI).
5. Check the Netware Requester section of the NET.CFG file. It
should be at the beginning of the NET.CFG file, and Requester
must be spelled with an -er, not -or. Also, the lines under
the Netware Requester section should be indented with spaces
not tabs.
