  7.         PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  8.  
  9.         If applicable, this procedure can be used to recover lost
  10.         Extended Services and/or LAN Services/UPM Icons if it was
  11.         deemed necessary to RENAME/MAKE NEW SYSTEM INI FILES by
  12.         the Technical Support Staff of OS/2.
  13.  
  14.         RESOLUTION SUMMARY:

  16.         Do a REINST/LANINST and re-migrate.

  83.                 1.  Procedure To Recover Data Base Manager Icons after a
  84.                     MAKEINI
  85.  
  86.  
  87.                 a. To recover your Data Base Manager Icons, you need to
  88.                     migrate the following executable files using the
  89.                    migration utility:
  90.  
  91.                 1)  Config.exe
  92.  
  93.                 2)  Direct.exe
  94.  
  95.                 3)  Recovery.exe
  96.  
  97.                 4)  Dbm.cmd
  98.  
  99.                 5)  Querymgr.exe
  100.

  103.                 b.  The files are located in the \Sqllib directory on the
  104.                      partition where Data Base Manager was initially
  105.                      installed.  If you don't know where Data Base
  106.                      Manager was installed, type the following command at
  107.                      the root of each partition:
  108.  
  109.                 1)  attrib dbm.cmd /s
  110.  
  111.                 a)  If the dbm.cmd file is on the partition, it
  112.                      will display after the command is executed.
  113.

  116.         2.  Steps to Migrate the Files
  117.  
  118.                 a.  Double click on the OS2 System, System Setup and
  119.                     then the Migrate Applications icon to open up the
  120.                     Find Programs window.
  121.  
  122.                 b.  Make sure the OS/2 programs option is the "only"
  123.                     one checked.
  124.  
  125.                 c.  Make sure the letter of the drive which contains
  126.                     Database Manager is the "only" one highlighted.
  127.  
  128.                 d.  Click on the Find button which opens the Migrate
  129.                     Programs window.
  130.  
  131.                 e.  Select OK that there were no programs found to
  132.                     migrate.
  133.  
  134.                 f.  Click on the Add Programs button to open the Add
  135.                     Programs window.
  136.  
  137.                 g.  Individually add the following five files to the
  138.                     Selected Programs
  139.  
  140.                 1)  window:
  141.  
  142.                 a)  Config.exe
  143.  
  144.                 b)  Direct.exe
  145.  
  146.                 c)  Recovery.exe
  147.  
  148.                 d) Dbm.cmd
  149.  
  150.                 e) Querymgr.exe
  151.  
  152.                 The procedure is to highlight one file at a
  153.                 time, in the Available Programs window, and
  154.                 then click on Add. When you click on Add,
  155.                 the file is moved from the Available
  156.                 Programs window to the Selected Programs
  157.                 window.
  158.  
  159.                 **Note**  You will need to use the
  160.                  left/right and up/down scroll arrows to
  161.                 find the files in the Available Programs
  162.                 window.  File names are on the left followed
  163.                 by their drive letter and directory.
  164.                 Scrolling to the right exposes the
  165.                 directories making it easier to find the
  166.                 \SQLLIB directory which contains the files
  167.                 you need to add.
  168.  
  169.                 h.  After all the file names listed above have been
  170.                     added to the Selected Programs window, make sure
  171.                     OS2 is selected as the program type and click on OK.
  172.  
  173.                 i.  Click on Migrate in the Migrate Programs window.
  174.  
  175.                 j. After the migration is complete, exit and cancel out
  176.                    of the migration utility back to the desktop.  The
  177.                    Data Base Icons should be on the desktop.
  178.  
  179.                 k. One additional icon can be created using the Program
  180.                     Icon from the Templates folder.
  181.  
  182.                  l.  Open the Templates folder, place the mouse
  183.                     arrow on top of the Program icon and press and hold the
  184.                     right mouse button.  While continuing to hold the right
  185.                     mouse button, drag the Program Icon to an empty area
  186.                     of the desktop and then release the mouse button.
  187.  
  188.                 m.  A settings folder should open after the Program icon
  189.                      is dropped on the desktop.  The Program page should
  190.                      be open.
  191.  
  192.                 n.  Type in  X:\os2\view.exe  in the Required Path and
  193.                      file name field.  (Replace the letter X with the
  194.                     drive letter of the partition where OS/2 is
  195.                     installed)
  196.  
  197.                 o.  Type in Dbmsg.inf in the Optional Parameters field.
  198.  
  199.                 p.  Type in  X:\sqllib\Book  in the Working Directory
  200.                      field  (Replace the letter X with the drive letter
  201.                     of the partition where Database Manager is installed)
  202.  
  203.                 q.  Double click on the box in the upper left corner of
  204.                     the settings folder to exit the setting folder.
  205.  
  206.                 r.  Shut down the system with a normal shutdown
  207.                     procedure and reboot.
