Resolution for locked files during LAPS in 12/16/93
LOCKED FILES MESSAGE WILL NOT ALLOW LAPS INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS
The following message displays during the LAN Adapter and
Protocol Support (LAPS) installation:
Files from a previous installation of LAPS have been
found and are currently locked by the operating system.
LAPS cannot be run until these files have been removed.
To remove these locked files, reboot your system.
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION
1. Erase the IBMLANLK.LST file from the \OS2\INSTALL
directory.
2. Shut down and restart the workstation, then retry the
LAPS installation.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION
1. From the drive where OS/2 is installed, perform the
following from the OS/2 command prompt:
a. Change directory to \OS2\INSTALL.
b. Delete the IBMLANLK.LST file:
DEL IBMLANLK.LST
c. Shut down OS/2 and restart the workstation.
d. Retry the LAPS installation.
NOTE: Do not continue with the following steps unless
the installation fails with the same error
message as listed above.
2. If the same "locked files" error message is displayed,
from the drive where OS/2 is installed perform the
following at the OS/2 command prompt:
a. Change directories to \OS2\INSTALL.
b. Delete the IBMLANLK.* files:
DEL IBMLANLK.*
c. Shut down OS/2 and restart the workstation.
d. Retry the LAPS installation.
