* Modems marked by an asterisk are newly supported since the General
Availability (GA) code. You can request these new modem types
from the forums listed below. They are available as a binary self-
extracting .EXE file. Download the file in binary, put it in the
\WAL subdirectory and type MODEMS at the OS/2 command prompt.
Then use Settings to Assign the new modem to a port.

** The Megahertz vendor does not support these modems running on
IBM Thinkpads. According to them, they are not designed to
run on Thinkpads.
(1) Customer generated (not generated in the LAN Distance Development
lab).
(2) PCMCIA Modem. You must have OS/2 Card and Socket Services
(available from modem manufacturer) to run on OS/2 LAN Distance.
(3) There is a bug in Device Driver of this modem. We are working
with IBM Toronto to get this fix in their code, and we will append
the solution to the LAN Distance forums.

Please let us know through the forums which modems you would like
for us to consider supporting for the LAN Distance products.
In an effort to distribute the widest variety of modem types, the
LAN Distance Development team will also include new modem types
developed and verified by our customers. These modem types will
be labeled above. While we have confidence they will work with
LAN Distance, these modem types have not been officially certified
in the LAN Distance modem lab.
Your feedback to our LAN Distance team is essential. Please
report any modem problems you encounter through the Forums.
Typical modem errors for LAN Distance include (WCL0221, WCL0336,
and spontaneous disconnections). We are also interested in your
modem successes. We encourage you to try any modem type with any
modem, or develop a new modem type for your modem hardware. Let
us know how your new modem type works, we would like to include
them in the LAN Distance product!
