  5.         SHORT CUT IF YOUR INSTALLATION PROCEDURE STOPS

  8.         If the installation procedure stops before completion, you might be
  9.         able to complete the installation without reusing all the
  10.         installation diskettes. You do not have to use all diskettes again
  11.         if the installation stopped after you were prompted to put the
  12.         Installation Diskette in the drive the second time (after you are
  13.         in the graphical installation).  For example, if you were copying
  14.         files from Diskette 9 on a 3.5-inch-diskette system, you could resume
  15.         the installation at Diskette 9 after doing the following:

  17.         1.  Identify which diskette was being "unpacked" when the
  18.          installation procedure stopped.
  19.  
  20.         2.  Subtract the number of that diskette from 15 and add one to the
  21.             result if you have 3.5-inch installation diskettes.  (Subtract
  22.             the number from 18 if you have 5.25-inch installation
  23.             diskettes.)  For example, if you were on Diskette 9 on a
  24.             3.5-inch system, the result would be 7.

  26.         3.  Start the computer with the Installation Diskette, and then
  27.             insert Diskette 1 when prompted.

  29.         4.  When you are asked to press ESC to cancel, press ESC.  You will
  30.             see a command prompt.

  32.         5.  Use a text editor to edit the CONFIG.SYS file on your hard
  33.             disk.
  34.  
  35.         6.  In the line that starts with FIRSTDISK, change the number to
  36.             the number of the diskette that was in the diskette drive when
  37.             the installation procedure stopped.  In the example, this is 9.

  42.         7.  In the line that starts with NUMDISKS, change the number to the
  43.             one you reached in step 2.  In the example, this is 7.

  48.         8.  Remove the diskette and press Ctrl+Alt+Del.  You will see the
  49.             graphical install panel.  Click on OK, then INSTALL, and select
  50.             all defaults.

  52.         9.  When you are promptbe Diskette 9, the diskette that was being
  53.             loaded when the installation procedure stopped.
  54.  
  55.         All the Selective Install choices that you selected when you first
  56.         tried to install OS/2 2.x are preserved.
