|
| 6. 6/16/93 How to AUTOMATICALLY SIGN-ON to the AS/400:
|
| To auto-signon to the AS/400, you must configure it in
| the CM 5250WSF Terminal Profile. This feature allows
| you to ONLY automatically sign-on to the AS/400. You
| will FIRST be required to logon to UPM. To automate
| the UPM logon, you can use a CMD file containing the
| LOGON cmd, but this is NOT recommended due to SECURITY
| reasons. (Ref: pages 14-5 and 14-15 in the CM CFG manual,
| page B-1 in the Guide to User Profile Mgmt, and
| page 3-65 in the CM User's Guide.)
|
| 7. 6/16/93 How to REMAP the 5250 WSF KEYBOARD functions:
|
| Information regarding remapping the keyboard can be
| found in the CM User's Guide starting on page 5-1 and
| in the CM Keyboard Layouts manual starting on page 3-10.
|
| 8. 6/16/93 How to USE the 5250 emulator session in a WINDOW
| or FULL-SCREEN mode:
|
| In CMLIB, edit STARTCM.CMD and locate SET EM5250=WIN.
| To change from Window to Full-screen mode, change the
| above line to read 'REM SET EM5250=WIN'. To activate the
| change, stop, then restart CM.
| (Ref. page 3-57 in the CM User's guide)
|
| 9. 6/16/93 Starting 5250 emulator sessions AUTOMATICALLY
|
| You can start all selected and configured 5250 WSF
| sessions automatically by specifying the following in
| the workstation profiles:
| Enable auto-start options | 5250 WSF | SNA/APPC
| (Ref. page 3-64 in the CM User's Guide)
|
|10. 6/16/93 How to JUMP between 5250 emulator sessions:
|
| You can JUMP between 5250 sessions by using the
| Alt+PageUp keystroke. Information about the JUMP key
| could be found in the ref. documentation.
| (Ref. page 3-62 in the CM User's Guide)
|
|11. 6/16/93 Using BCS to configure a local 5250 session.
|
| A directly cabled OS/2 machine can be quickly
| connected to the AS/400 using ES Basic Configuration
| Services. The BCS Main Menu is a four-item menu, and
| selecting Option 3 (5250 WSF) will step you through
| configuring the connection to the AS/400.
|
| The most important data is the communication parameters.
| Assuming that auto-config on the AS/400 is turned on
| (at least for TWINAX connection), the connection can be
| completed with the following information:
|
| NOTE: For detail information on configuring the SNA
| and AS/400 connections, please ref. CH. 8 and
| CH. 2 of the Configuration and Host Ref. manuals,
| respectively.
|
| - 5250 LOCAL LU NAME.
| This is the name you are assigning to your computer so
| you can make this any name you want. This will be your
| device description.
|
| - 5250 PARTNER LU NAME.
| This is the name of your AS/400. This is obtained from
| the Default Local Location name (LCLONAME) in the AS/400
| network attributes (DSPNETA). Sometimes the System Name
| is the same as the Default Local Location name,
| but do not count on this. Using the System Name
| rather than the Default Local Location name is the most
| common error so be sure to check the network attributes.
|
| - 5250 MODE NAME.
| QPCSUPP or other mode name.
|
| LAN DESTINATION ADDRESS (If Token-Ring connected).
| This is the AS/400 LAN adapter address. This can be
| obtained from the LAN line description.
|
| TWINAX CONTROLLER ADDRESS (If TWINAX connected).
| This is the device address on the TWINAX line.
| Your can print out the available addresses on a
| particular controller through PRTDEVADR on the AS/400.
|
| - LOCAL NODE NAME.
| This is the controller name on the AS/400. If you have
| auto-config turned on this can be anything you want
| though BCS will make this the same name as the 5250
| Local LU name.
|
| - NETWORK ID.
| The default Network name that ships on all AS/400s is
| APPN, so in many cases the default of APPN that BCS
| suggests will work. Since APPN can be changed on the
| AS/400, a good practice is to check the AS/400
| network attributes for the Local Network ID (LCLNETID)
| through a DSPNETA command.
|
| - NODE ID (IN HEX).
| The AS/400 does not use this so it can be left at the
| default of 00000.
|
| Pressing enter after filling in this information will
| return you to the BCS Main Menu. Pressing F3 will lead
| you through the installation of the configuration file.
|
|12. 6/16/93 5250WSF LANDSCAPE printing.
|
| 5250WSF does not support Automatic Page Rotation, so
| you must modify the AS/400 PRTF file to indicate
| a Page Rotation of 90 degrees using the following cmd:
|
| OVRPRTF FILE(PRTF) PAGESIZE(88) LPI(8) CPI(16.7)
| PAGRTT(90)
| To change back to Portrait, you can define
| a second PF key specifying a PAGRTT of 0 degrees.
|
|13. 6/16/93 Under OS/2 2.0 the PrintScreen PF Key generates
| GPI print instead of TEXT print.
|
| In OS/2 2.0 the base operating system intercepts the
| PrintScreen from 5250, which causes GPI printing
| to occur instead of Text printing.
| This problem can be circumvented by running 5250 in
| fullscreen mode or remapping the Printscreen function
| (PRTP) to another PF key.
| To run 5250 in fullscreen mode, edit CMLIB STARTCM.CMD
| and change 'SET EM5250=WIN' to 'REM SET EM5250=WIN'.
| To remap the PrintScreen PF key (PRTP) to another key,
| reference the ES User's Guide.
|
|14. 6/16/93 Running 5250 and 3270 emulation from the same WS.
|
| IF your 3270 and 5250 connections exist on different
| networks, you will likely experience error msg ACS0619
| when starting 5250 emulation.
|
| If so, you can use the AS/400 Remote Network ID
| (RMTNETID) parameter and assign it to the network ID
| of the System/370 host. This would enable the ES WS
| to communicate to both the AS/400 and System/370 host.
| (Ref. ES Host Connection Manual, Ch 2, page 2-16)
|
|15. 6/16/93 Hewlett-Packard Printer Function Table Support
|
| PFT PFTHP2 resides in CMLIB and can used to support
| Hewlett Packard Printers.
