10/19/94
================================================================
RUNNING OS/2 ON A NOVELL NETWARE NETWORK
================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
----------------------------------------------------------------
SYMTOMS: Requirements for running OS/2 on a Novell Netware
Network.
RESOLUTION: There are two supported versions of the requester,
plus several patches (NSDs) available:
- OS/2 Requester 1.3 is for OS/2 version 1.3 and
requires at least NSD103 or NSD104.
- OS/2 Requester 2.10 is for OS/2 version 2.x.
Novell supports OS/2 2.x with requester V2.10.
You should apply the latest Netware requester version
2.10. You can download the latest requester from:
- Novell's Netwire forum on Compuserve - anonymous FTP from
ftp.novell.com in /pub/netwire/novfiles/ client.kit/os2 -
IBM PCC BBS at (919) 517-0001
The file names are: OS2DC1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE,
WSOS21.EXE, and WSOS22.EXE.
Each file is a self-extracting zip file that should be
unpacked, one file per diskette. For example, type:
WSOS21 -d a:
OS/2 2.0 and 2.1 can have many problems if you are using an
old requester. You can tell which requester is running by
looking at the \NETWARE\VIPX.SYS file, dated 4/8/94 for
requester version 2.10.
If there is not a Netware server with global directory
services on the LAN, add the line " DIRECTORY SERVICES OFF"
to the NET.CFG file - the line must start with at least one
space.
