TITLE IBM TOKEN-RING 16/4 BUSMASTER ADAPTER/A EXCHANGE PROGRAM
ABSTRACT For a limited time only, eligible customers can exchange their
IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A (part number
74F4140, feature code 4041) for a new, higher-performance IBM
LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter (part number 92F8942, feature code 8942) at
no additional charge.
To qualify, customers must have purchased both the IBM
Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A and an IBM
Personal System/2 (R) XT486 Model 95 (0Mx model). Both purchases
must have been made from IBM or an IBM Authorized Business Partner on
or after September 1, 1992, but no later than March 2, 1993.
Exchange requests must be received by IBM on or before May 1,
1993. Each request must be accompanied by a valid proof of purchase
(for example, a copy of the original invoice for the eligible IBM
Personal System/2 Model 95 and for the IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4
Busmaster Server Adapter/A).
All customers are eligible to participate in this program.
IBM reserves the right to modify or withdraw this program at
any time.

IMKTG MARKETING INFORMATION
This program fulfills the statement made in September 1992
regarding the Model 95. The statement said that "IBM intends to
provide a new 32-bit busmaster token-ring adapter which will exploit
40MB/second data streaming.... IBM intends to provide a free
exchange program for customers who purchase the Busmaster Adapter/A
for a PS/2 (R) Model 95 0Mx between September and the announcement of
the new adapter."
The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, announced March 2, 1993, in
Product Announcement 193-056, fulfills the statement of direction for
the high-performance adapter. This document, on the other hand,
provides the vehicle for the exchange program.
Upon receipt of proof of purchase mailed by the customer, an
IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter will be shipped. Once the new adapter
is installed, the original IBM Busmaster Server Adapter must be
returned to IBM. If it has not been returned within 35 days from the
date of shipment of the new adapter, the customer will be billed $500
per adapter. Up to two adapters per eligible Model 95 may be
exchanged.
See Additional Information in the customer portion of this
announcement for details.
If you have questions on the information contained in this
announcement, send a PROFS (R) note to TRADEIN at RALVM11.

MARKETING ACTION REQUIRED
After becoming familiar with the provisions of this program
and the new IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, call on your affected
customers to describe how they can take advantage of the program.
Customers should understand that they must provide dated
proofs of purchase for these items as well as credit card
authorization, which will be used to bill them in the event the IBM
Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A is not returned to
IBM.

OVERVIEW ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, announced March 2, 1993 (see
Product Announcement 193-056), leads the industry in performance when
used in a server environment as part of a PS/2 (R) 95 system with
data streaming. It should be considered in environments where
increased server performance (over the IBM Token-Ring 16/4 Busmaster
Server Adapter/A) is desired. It supports both unshielded twisted
pair as well as the IBM Cabling System.
The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter has a processing capacity of
over 30,000 frames per second and very low latency (under 50
microseconds). The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter provides both data
and addressing support for 32 bits of information to be passed across
the Micro Channel (R). This provides greater throughput as well as
addressing capabilities to support Model 95s that require addressing
above the 16MB range.
To participate in this program, you must send the following to
IBM:
o Your IBM or IBM Authorized Business Partner invoice for the IBM
Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A (part number
74F4140, feature code 4041) and the IBM Personal System/2 XT486
Model 95 (9595-0MF, 0MT or 8595-0MF, 0MT).
The date of purchase is the date on the invoice. The
purchase date of both the IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster
Server Adapter/A and the Personal System/2 XT486 Model 95 must be
on or after September 1, 1992, but no later than March 2, 1993.
Up to two adapters per Model 95 may be exchanged.
o A credit card authorization, which will be used only if the IBM
Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A is not
returned within 35 days from shipment of the IBM LANStreamer MC
32 Adapter. (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express card numbers
may be used.) If it is not returned by then, you will be charged
$500 for each Busmaster Server Adapter/A.
Mail the above to:
