OSBPIAK - WARP BONUS PACK INTERNET ACCESS KIT
01/18/94
1. How do I set up an alternate provider for the Internet Access
Kit?
Connecting to the Internet using the IBM Internet Dialer is
because the program takes care the communication
configuration. You can use the Internet Access Kit with
Alternate providers. Because each provider might configure
the connection differently, you might have to make some
changes.
The three types of configurations an alternate Internet
service provider can use for dial in (modem) access are:
1. SLIP - Static IP address
The service provider provides you with a unique IP address.
The SAMPLE.RSP file, in the TCPIP\ETC subdirectory, should be
modified to correctly parse and respond to your service
provider's queries when you dial in.
2. SLIP - Dynamic IP address
The service provider assigns an IP address when you dial in
and make a connection. This IP address can be different each
time you call. The files ANNEX.CMD, CYBERNET.CMD or TDC.CMD
are templates found in the TCPIP\BIN subdirectory. They are
written to deal with a dynamic IP environment and should be
modified to connect with your providor.
3. PPP - Point to Point
This configuration is much like SLIP and can be configured
with either a static or dynamic IP address. Find out how
your provider configures the service and then see #1 or #2
above.
NOTE: Some service providers already have the configuration
files necessary to establish a connection using Warp. Be
sure to check with them.
