AMI_R30A -- PUBLIC APPLICATIONS with LOTUS AMIPRO 3.0 for OS/2
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
The correct operation of Lotus Ami Pro and the Lotus License Management
Facility was the prime considerations in the development of this
procedure.
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
The following is an example of installing LOTUS Ami Pro for OS/2
in a Domain for use as a Public Application for use by OS/2
Requester Workstations. Selected items, such as Aliases and drives,
can be customized for specific circumstances.
The installation is performed from a Workstation on the Network.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
INSTALLING THE PRODUCT
LOTUS Ami Pro for OS/2 - NETWORK VERSION was installed
from a Workstation on the Network to the OS2AMI
subdirectory on the D: drive of the Server.
1. LOGON to the SERVER with an ADMINISTRATOR ID
A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session from a
Workstation on the network, type the following and
press ENTER:
LOGON adminid /P:password
where adminid is an Administrator ID and password
is the proper password for the ID.
2. OBTAIN ACCESS to the D: DRIVE on the SERVER
A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the
following and press ENTER to connect to the D
Drive on the Server:
NET USE P: \\servername\D$
where servername is the Server Name of the Server
that Ami Pro will be installed on.
B. To switch to the redirected P Drive, type the following
and press ENTER:
P:
C. Create the directory where the product will be installed
by typing the following and pressing ENTER:
MD OS2AMI
D. Switch to the C drive by typing C: and pressing ENTER.
E. Disconnect from the redirected drive by typing the
following and pressing ENTER:
NET USE P: /D
3. CREATE the ALIAS
A. In an OS/2 Full Screen session, type NET and depress ENTER.
B. At the MAIN MENU, select Definitions from the top menu and
ALIASES from the pull down and FILES from the pop up.
C. Select NEW on the screen, select ACTIONS from the top menu
and CREATE from the pull down.
D. Fill in the panel:
ALIAS AMIOS2
DESCRIPTION Describe the Alias as desired
SERVER NAME Depress F4 and select the Server
name that was used in Step 2A
SERVER PATH D:\OS2AMI
SHARED AT SERVER STARTUP is recommended
but AS REQUIRED BY USER is O.K.
E. Exit the Full Screen Interface (REQ).
4. OBTAIN a DRIVE to the ALIAS
A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the
following and press ENTER:
NET USE P: AMIOS2
5. INSTALLING the PRODUCT
A. Insert Disk 1(Install) of AMI PRO in the Drive A.
B. In OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the following
and press ENTER:
A:INSTALL
C. Click on CONTINUE on the WELCOME TO INSTALL screen.
D. Type the Company Name and press ENTER.
E. Type the Name and press ENTER.
F. In the MAIN MENU, select INSTALL ON SERVER icon.
G. In the SPECIFY TYPE OF INSTALLATION, COMPLETE INSTALLATION
was chosen for this installation.
H: Specify the Program Directory as P:\AMIPRO and press ENTER.
I. Adjust NUMBER OF LICENSES to those purchased and ensure
the LOTSHARE DIRECTORY DRIVE is P and click on OK.
J. Follow the directions in the panels that follow for
the remainder of the installation.
K. Exit the installation when complete.
6. CREATE INITIAL ACCESS CONTROL PROFILE
A. In an OS/2 Full Screen session, type NET and press
ENTER to start the Full Screen Interface (FSI).
B. From the MAIN PANEL, select DEFINITIONS from the top menu,
ALIASES fro the pull down, and FILES from the pop up.
C. From the MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select AMIOS2.
D. Select ACCESS PROFILES from the top menu and CREATE
from the pull down.
E. Enter XR in the PERMISSIONS for USERS and press ENTER.
F. From the MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select AMIOS2.
G. Select ACCESS PROFILES for the top menu, APPLY from the
pull down and press ENTER.
H. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.
7. SETTING ACCESS CONTROL for the LICENSE DIRECTORIES
A. From the MAIN PANEL, select DEFINITIONS from the top
menu and ACCESS CONTROL from the pull down.
B. Select SERVERS from the top panel and DISPLAY PROFILES
by SERVER.
C. Select the same Server name that was used in step 2A.
D. Locate D:\OS2AMI\LOTSHARE and select.
E. Select ACTIONS from top menu and UPDATE from pull down.
F. Specify XRWCDAP in PERMISSIONS and press ENTER.
G. Locate D:\OS2AMI\LOTSHARE and select.
H. Select ACTIONS from top menu and APPLY from pull down
and press ENTER.
I. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.
NOTE: Access Control Profiles may need to be created for those
directories that will contain the Data/Document files.
8. DEFINING AMIPRO INSTALL as a PUBLIC APPLICATION
A. From the MAIN PANEL panel, select DEFINITIONS from the top
menu and APPLICATIONS from the pull down.
B. Select PUBLIC OS/2 APPLICATIONS.
C. Select NEW, ACTION from the top menu and CREATE from the
pull down.
D. At the CREATE OS/2 APPLICATIONS DETAILS panel, fill in
the panel:

ALIAS AMIOS2
REMAINING PATH \
COMMAND LINE AMIPRO\INSTALL\INSTALL.EXE

E. Press ENTER
F. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select INSTAMI.
G. Select ACTIONS from the top menu and WORKING DIRECTORY
from the pull down.
H. Fill in the panel:
WORKING DIRECTORY REMOTE
ALIAS AMIOS2
REMAINING PATH \
ASSIGNED DRIVE P
I. Press ENTER
9. PLACING AMIPRO INSTALL in the USER'S PUBLIC APPLICATIONS FOLDER
A. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select INSTAMI.
B. Select STARTER from the top menu and select ADD from the
pull down.
C. Add the application to the users needed and press ENTER.
D. ESC to MAIN PANEL.
10. DEFINING AMIPRO as a PUBLIC APPLICATION
A. From the MAIN PANEL panel, select DEFINITIONS from the top
menu and APPLICATIONS from the pull down.
B. Select PUBLIC OS/2 APPLICATIONS.
C. Select NEW, ACTION from the top menu and CREATE from the
pull down.
D. At the CREATE OS/2 APPLICATIONS DETAILS panel, fill in
the panel:
APPLICATION ID APPAMI
DESCRIPTION AmiPro
REMOTE
ALIAS AMIOS2
REMAINING PATH \
COMMAND LINE AMIPRO\AMIPRO
PROMPT NO
PROGRAM TYPE OS/2 PM
E. Press ENTER
F. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select APPAMI.
G. Select ACTIONS from the top menu and WORKING DIRECTORY
from the pull down.
H. Fill in the panel:
WORKING DIRECTORY REMOTE
ALIAS AMIOS2
REMAINING PATH \
ASSIGNED DRIVE P
I. Press ENTER
11. PLACING AMIPRO in the USER'S PUBLIC APPLICATIONS FOLDER
A. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select APPAMI.
B. Select STARTER from the top menu and select ADD from the
pull down.
C. Add the application to the users needed and press ENTER.
D. ESC to MAIN PANEL.
E. Exit the FSI and LOGOFF the Administrator ID.

STEPS AT EACH WORKSTATION
The following must be executed at each user's workstation to gain
access to Lotus AMIPRO and the Lotus License Management
Facility.
1. LOGON TO THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER
A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the following
and press ENTER on a Workstation in the Network:
LOGON userid /P:password
where userid is the actual userid and password is
the correct password for the userid entered.
2. INSTALLING THE APPLICATION ON THE WORKSTATION
A. Using a mouse, double click on the Public Applications
icon on the Desktop.
B. Double click on the AMIPRO INSTALL icon.
C. Choose the CONTINUE on WELCOME TO INSTALL panel.
D. Type the Name and press ENTER.
E. Specify the AMI PRO Program Directory and press ENTER.
F. Verify the information in the PATHS pop up and press
ENTER. AMI PRO will now install the Workstation Node.
G. Exit the Install program.
The AMIPRO icon can now be double clicked in the PUBLIC
APPLICATIONS folder to use the features of AMI PRO.
