-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What is Network Suite (ENS)?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
EmTec Network Suite is a set of tools for improving access to the
Internet from your OS/2 desktop. It offers a full featured news
reader, FTP and Gopher clients. This suite of programs was known
under the name Neologic Network Suite before 1997.
All applications support Ethernet or SLIP/PPP serial connections.
Prior versions of the Network Suite sold under the NeoLogic name
contained an FTP server licensed from Hethmon Brothers software.
For information on support and upgrades for the FTP server
component which is no longer included in the suite contact Paul
Hethmon at phethmon@hethmon.com or www.hethmon.com).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Installation
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unzip the file to a floppy or a temporary directory. Then change to that
drive:\directory. Run INSTALL to set up the applications you want.
You can create a 2 floppy installation by copying image2.dsk to disk 2.
Then copy everything else from the archive to disk 1.
The EmTec Network Suite can be installed over earlier versions
including an installed version of the NeoLogic Network Suite and will
preserve your settings. However, you might try to install it into a
fresh directory (in which case you need to remove all reference to
your existing version from the CONFIG.SYS), to see the new color
scheme.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Ordering
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The EmTec Network Suite is distributed exclusively by BMT Micro in the
U.S. When you are connected to the internet you can order through the
Online-Order application (PURCHASE.EXE), which will encrypt and transfer
your order directly to BMT Micro. Alternately you can fill out and
print the order form text (ORDER.FRM) and mail or fax it to BMT.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Improvements and Bug Fixes for this Release
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please check the file VERSIONS.DOC for a complete list of changes
in the application.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Program Problems?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you experience any problems with any of the applications, then we
really want to hear from you. Please drop us an e-mail message and we
will do our best to resolve your problem. Please see the help file for
contact and support addresses.
PLEASE DO NOT USE BMT MICRO'S 1-800 ORDER LINE FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT.
SUPPORT REQUESTS ARE BEST SENT VIA EMAIL, BECAUSE WE WILL BE ABLE TO
TRY TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND/OR AKSING THE RIGHT PERSON BEFORE
ANSWERING.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Common Problems
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please also check the "How do I ..." topic in the help file.
1) Install aborts with a message that a DLL cannot be accessed or
overwritten.
Please close all programs from earlier versions of the Network
Suite before starting the installation.
2) Applications crash when attempting to start
If you installed this version and still have an older version on your
system either remove it or remove the old version's directory from the
LIBPATH. In general, make sure that there is only one copy of EMTEC.DLL
on your system and it resides in the new installation's DLL directory.
3) Applications start but are not registered.
Copy the netsuite.cfg fle from your installation disk or previous
version into the base directory for this release. Alternately,
run the Register program and reenter the codes manually.
4) News loads but does not update the subscriptions properly
Make sure that the username and password fields in the configuration
notebook are blank. If they contain information, remove this data
and restart News.
This information is used only for news servers which require a
special login process. Very few servers require this.
