  25. GENERAL INFO FOR NEW INSTALLATIONS:
  26.  
  27. - In order to match your ATI Rage Pro to your monitor and to 
  28.   your system configuration, you must run "QUICK SETUP" before 
  29.   installing any drivers.
  30. - Please follow the instructions in the "Selecting Your Monitor Type"
  31.   section of your User's Guide.
  32. - After running "QUICK SETUP", select "DRIVERS INSTALLATION" and use
  33.   <escape> to exit back to DOS.

  37. 2.0     Installation Notes for OS/2
  38.  
  39. Notes:
  40.  
  41.      a) Before installing the ATI OS/2 display drivers, you must
  42.         set your system to use the IBM supplied VGA driver. Type SETVGA from
  43.         a full screen OS/2 session to accomplish this.
  44.  
  45.      b) Check the Window List (press CTRL-ESC) to see if you have any
  46.         WIN-OS/2 or DOS sessions iconized. Close them all as the OS/2 device
  47.         driver install will not complete successfully if a WIN-OS/2 or DOS
  48.         session is running.
  49.  
  50.      c) To complete the install successfully you will require the following
  51.         information:
  52.  
  53.         *The OS/2 boot drive on which the PM driver is located.
  54.         *The default ATI OS/2 driver directory is C:\MACH_OS2.
  55.  
  56. After you have set the operating system to use the IBM supplied VGA driver:
  57.  
  58. 1) Open an OS/2 Window or Full Screen command prompt, insert disk #1 of the
  59.    ATI Rage Pro diskettes.  Change to the drive containing the ATI disk
  60.    and type OS2INST.
  61.  
  62. 2) When the main selection menu appears,
  63.  
  64.    a) Select Drivers Installation and press <Enter>.
  65.    b) From the Install Enhanced Drivers menu select IBM OS/2 and
  66.       press <Enter>
  67.    c) Follow the on screen prompts until this portion of the installation
  68.       process complete.

  70. 3) When the files have been successfully copied to your hard disk, open an
  71.    OS/2 session and type DSPINSTL, then press <Enter>.
  72.  
  73. 4) When the Display Driver Install panel appears, select Primary Display
  74.    and click OK to bring up the Primary Display Driver List.
  75.  
  76. 5) Select "ATI Rage Pro (Enhanced x.xx)" from the list and click OK.
  77.  
  78.    Note: Users of OS/2 WARP will be presented with a Monitor
  79.    Configuration/Selection panel.  Select "Install Using Defaults
  80.    for Monitor Type".
  81.  
  82. 6) When the source directory panel appears, select 'Change' and enter:
  83.    X:\MACH_OS2  (Replace X with the drive letter of your boot drive
  84.    and, if you specified your own driver directory, use the name of that
  85.    directory instead of MACH_OS2).
  86.    Next, click 'Set' and then 'Install'. After the files are copied,
  87.    exit the OS/2 window or full screen session. Shut down and restart
  88.    your system.

  90. 7) The PM driver will first come up in 640x480, 256 colors mode.  Use the
  91.    following steps to change the screen resolutions or number of colors:
  92.  
  93.    a) Open 'OS/2 System' folder.
  94.    b) Open 'System Setup' folder.
  95.    c) Open 'System' object.
  96.    b) Select the 'Screen' tab.
  97.    e) Select the desired resolution and number of colors from the list.
  98.    f) Double click on the system menu icon or select close from the system
  99.       menu to close the window.
  100.    g) Shut down and restart your system.

  104. 3.0     Reporting Problems

  106. If you experience difficulties, open the file REPORT.TXT and complete
  107. the Problem Report form.
