  9.     OS/2 Display Driver Disk has the following files necessary to complete
  10.     installation.

  14.         CVC.SYS        - Device driver has adapter information
  15.         DPAGE.DLL    - OS/2 PM Driver with Large Icons
  16.         SPAGE.DLL    - OS/2 PM Driver with small Icons
  17.         BVHCHAIN.DLL    - Video handler
  18.         DEVCONF.EXE    - Utility to configure System parameters
  19.         DEVMODE.EXE    - Utility to access Extended Text     
  20.                       Modes for PC system.

  28. OS/2 WORDPERFECT 5.0 BUG WHICH IMPACT OS/2 DISPLAY DRIVER

  30. System complain invalid graphics driver when trying to go to
  31. Preview mode.  This problem only occurs when running on the
  32. PS/2 system.  It works fine on the AT.  WordPerfect should
  33. be contacted for patched software or a new release date.

  37. Installing OS/2 Display Driver (Recommended):
  38.  
  39.     1.    To install OS/2, insert the IBM OS/2 INSTALL disk into
  40.         drive A and reboot your system.
  41.  
  42.     2.    Follow the standard OS/2 instructions as each screen is 
  43.         displayed.
  44.  
  45.     3.    When the Select Display Adapter screen appears, use the
  46.         arrow key to select "2. YES - Other display adapters are
  47.         attached." for PC system.
  48.           
  49.  
  50.         For PS/2, system will prompt "Are all of the 
  51.          display adapter(s) listed?
  52.           use the arrow key to select 2.NO and skip to step 5
  53.  
  54.     4.    When the Specify Display Adapter screen appears, use the
  55.         arrow key to select Monochrome/printer Adapter. 
  56.  
  57.     5.    Continue the OS/2 installation.
  58.  
  59.     6.    When the Install Device Support Disk screen appears,
  60.         select "1. YES".
  61.  
  62.     7.    Insert OS/2 Display Driver Disk into drive A.
  63.  
  64.     8.    When the Select Device Driver screen appears, use the
  65.         arrow keys to position the cursor at the appropriate driver.

  68.         OS/2 Display Driver with Large Icons

  71.         Press space bar to select the entry and press Enter.

  74.             Large Icons and pointer sizes are 64x64
  75.             Small Icons and pointer sizes are 32x32

  77.     9.    Complete the OS/2 installation and Reboot your system.

  81.         The procedure described above only completes the installation 
  82.           of the Device Driver for OS/2 and PM.  Complete 
  83.           Display Driver Installation by running DEVCONF as
  84.         described below.

  87.        10.    On reboot you are in Presentation Manager (PM).

  89.         Click twice on DOS icon or OS/2 window or OS/2 Full screen.

  91.        11.    Now type:
  92.             DEVCONF <Enter>
  93.             Note:
  94.                 DEVCONF - (video configurator) attaches
  95.                 the video handler (bvhchain) 
  96.                 to vendor provided video handler and
  97.                 allow you to tailor your system according to your need.

  99.       12. Make appropriate selections from the DEVCONF screen.

  101.        13. Now Shutdown the system through Desktop Manager window.

  103.        14. This completes the OS/2 Display Driver installation.

  112. Installing OS/2 with the High Resolution driver (RECOMMENDED FOR ADVANCE USER ONLY!):

  114.     Warning:
  115.         1. If you have installed the OS/2 Display Driver as explained 
  116.         above please skip this procedure.
  117.  
  118.         2. If you want to do a quick install for the OS/2 Display Driver, 
  119.         please be very cautious, any typing error or  
  120.           any missed step will produce disastrous results. 
  121.             
  122.         3.  If you follow this procedure and your system does not
  123.         work accurately, please follow the recommended installation
  124.         procedures.

  127.     You must have following files to complete a quick  installation.

  138.     Procedure:
  139.         1. Insert the OS/2 Display Driver Disk into drive A.
  140.  
  141.         2. Either run OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full screen or DOS real
  142.            mode.

  144.         3. Issue command:
  145.             PROMPT> C:\ <Enter>
  146.  
  147.         3. Make a directory.
  148.  
  149.             PROMPT> MD \HIGHRES <Enter>
  150.  
  151.         4. Change directory.
  152.             PROMPT> CD \HIGHRES <Enter>
  153.  
  154.         5. Copy files.
  155.             PROMPT> COPY a:devconf.exe c:\os2 <Enter>
  156.             PROMPT> COPY a:devmode.exe c:\os2 <Enter>
  157.             PROMPT> COPY a:*.sys <Enter>
  158.             PROMPT> COPY a:bvhchain.dll <Enter>

  160.             PROMPT> COPY a:dpage.dll display.dll <Enter>

  162.             PROMPT> COPY a:spage.dll display.dll <Enter>

  165.         6. Go back to PM.
  166.  
  167.         7. Click on Group-Main.
  168.  
  169.         8. Click twice on OS/2 System Editor.

  171.         9. Edit CONFIG.SYS file.

  173.             a. Edit the LIBPATH command.
  174.  
  175.             Insert  C:\HIGHRES in LIBPATH.

  178.                 Original command may look like as follow:
  179.                    LIBPATH=C:\OS2\DLL;C:\;

  181.                 Modify it to look as follow:            
  182.                    LIBPATH=C:\HIGHRES;C:\OS2\DLL;C:\;

  186.             c. Insert the statements any where:
  187.             
  188.             IOPL=YES
  189.             DEVICE=C:\HIGHRES\CVC.SYS
  190.  
  191.             d. Save config.sys and exit from the editor.

  193.             e. Now click twice on OS/2 Window, and on prompt issue
  194.                the command DEVCONF, which will configure your
  195.                system.
  196.

  198.         10. Now Shutdown the system using Desktop Manager window.

  200.         11. This completes OS/2 Display Driver installation.

  204.         Note:
  205.            While you are in OS/2, OS/2 does not let you delete
  206.            display.dll and bvhchain.dll files. If you already
  207.            have OS/2 Display Driver installed using the
  208.              recommended way and want to update, you should
  209.            create another directory as described above.
  210.             If you want overwrite the current OS/2 Display Driver,
  211.            boot up using DOS and do the following:
  212.  
  213.         PROMPT> copy a:devconf.exe c:\os2
  214.         PROPMT> copy a:devmode.exe c:\os2
  215.         PROMPT> copy a:cvc.sys c:\ 
  216.         PROMPT> copy a:bvhchain.dll c:\os2\dll
  217.         PROMPT> copy a:dpage.dl c:\os2\dll\display.dll
  218.        or
  219.         PROMPT> copy a:spage.dll c:\os2\dll\display.dll
