installation.

OS/2 WORDPERFECT 5.0 BUG WHICH IMPACT OS/2 DISPLAY DRIVER
System complain invalid graphics driver when trying to go to
Preview mode. This problem only occurs when running on the
PS/2 system. It works fine on the AT. WordPerfect should
be contacted for patched software or a new release date.

Installing OS/2 Display Driver (Recommended):
1. To install OS/2, insert the IBM OS/2 INSTALL disk into
drive A and reboot your system.
2. Follow the standard OS/2 instructions as each screen is
displayed.
3. When the Select Display Adapter screen appears, use the
arrow key to select "2. YES - Other display adapters are
attached." for PC system.
For PS/2, system will prompt "Are all of the
display adapter(s) listed?
use the arrow key to select 2.NO and skip to step 5
4. When the Specify Display Adapter screen appears, use the
arrow key to select Monochrome/printer Adapter.
5. Continue the OS/2 installation.
6. When the Install Device Support Disk screen appears,
select "1. YES".
7. Insert OS/2 Display Driver Disk into drive A.
8. When the Select Device Driver screen appears, use the
arrow keys to position the cursor at the appropriate driver.
OS/2 Display Driver with Large Icons
OS/2 Display Driver with Small Icons
Press space bar to select the entry and press Enter.
Note:
Large Icons and pointer sizes are 64x64
Small Icons and pointer sizes are 32x32
9. Complete the OS/2 installation and Reboot your system.
Warning:
The procedure described above only completes the installation
of the Device Driver for OS/2 and PM. Complete
Display Driver Installation by running DEVCONF as
described below.
10. On reboot you are in Presentation Manager (PM).
Click twice on DOS icon or OS/2 window or OS/2 Full screen.
11. Now type:
DEVCONF <Enter>
Note:
DEVCONF - (video configurator) attaches
the video handler (bvhchain)
to vendor provided video handler and
allow you to tailor your system according to your need.
12. Make appropriate selections from the DEVCONF screen.
13. Now Shutdown the system through Desktop Manager window.
14. This completes the OS/2 Display Driver installation.
QUICK INSTALL:
Installing OS/2 with the High Resolution driver (RECOMMENDED FOR ADVANCE USER ONLY!):
Warning:
1. If you have installed the OS/2 Display Driver as explained
above please skip this procedure.
2. If you want to do a quick install for the OS/2 Display Driver,
please be very cautious, any typing error or
any missed step will produce disastrous results.
3. If you follow this procedure and your system does not
work accurately, please follow the recommended installation
procedures.
You must have following files to complete a quick installation.
CVC.SYS - Device driver has adapter information
DPAGE.DLL - OS/2 PM Driver with Large Icons
SPAGE.DLL - OS/2 PM Driver with small Icons
BVHCHAIN.DLL - Video handler
DEVCONF.EXE - Utility to configure System parameters
DEVMODE.EXE - Utility to access Extended Text modes
PART I:
Procedure:
1. Insert the OS/2 Display Driver Disk into drive A.
2. Either run OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full screen or DOS real
mode.
3. Issue command:
PROMPT> C:\ <Enter>
3. Make a directory.
PROMPT> MD \HIGHRES <Enter>
4. Change directory.
PROMPT> CD \HIGHRES <Enter>
5. Copy files.
PROMPT> COPY a:devconf.exe c:\os2 <Enter>
PROMPT> COPY a:devmode.exe c:\os2 <Enter>
PROMPT> COPY a:*.sys <Enter>
PROMPT> COPY a:bvhchain.dll <Enter>
PROMPT> COPY a:dpage.dll display.dll <Enter>
OR
PROMPT> COPY a:spage.dll display.dll <Enter>
6. Go back to PM.
7. Click on Group-Main.
8. Click twice on OS/2 System Editor.
9. Edit CONFIG.SYS file.
a. Edit the LIBPATH command.
Insert C:\HIGHRES in LIBPATH.
example:
Original command may look like as follow:
LIBPATH=C:\OS2\DLL;C:\;
Modify it to look as follow:
LIBPATH=C:\HIGHRES;C:\OS2\DLL;C:\;
c. Insert the statements any where:
IOPL=YES
DEVICE=C:\HIGHRES\CVC.SYS
d. Save config.sys and exit from the editor.
e. Now click twice on OS/2 Window, and on prompt issue
the command DEVCONF, which will configure your
system.
10. Now Shutdown the system using Desktop Manager window.
11. This completes OS/2 Display Driver installation.
Note:
While you are in OS/2, OS/2 does not let you delete
display.dll and bvhchain.dll files. If you already
have OS/2 Display Driver installed using the
recommended way and want to update, you should
create another directory as described above.
If you want overwrite the current OS/2 Display Driver,
boot up using DOS and do the following:
PROMPT> copy a:devconf.exe c:\os2
PROPMT> copy a:devmode.exe c:\os2
PROMPT> copy a:cvc.sys c:\
PROMPT> copy a:bvhchain.dll c:\os2\dll
PROMPT> copy a:dpage.dl c:\os2\dll\display.dll
or
PROMPT> copy a:spage.dll c:\os2\dll\display.dll
