IMPORTANT: DO NOT INTERRUPT THE OPERATION OF THE FLASH BIOS
UPGRADE PROGRAM ONCE IT STARTS. INTERRUPTING THIS PROCESS
DURING OPERATION BY EITHER PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON,
ACTIVATING THE POWER BUTTON, OR LOSING AC LINE VOLTAGE FROM
A POWER OUTAGE MAY PERMANENTLY CORRUPT THE SYSTEM FLASH
BIOS.
Before flashing your XPS PXXXc system with the A04 BIOS,
please read the following:
1. When upgrading to A04, note any custom configuration
parameters in your CMOS and re-configure after flashing.
2. To reflash from A04 to an earlier version (not
recommended), enable the "clear CMOS" jumper (jumper E) on
the motherboard and reconfigure as in step 1 above, if
necessary.
NOTE: When following either procedure 1 or 2, a message
stating "CMOS Checksum Invalid, Press <F1> for Setup, <ESC>
to Boot" will appear. Do not be alarmed as this is a normal
message when the CMOS has been cleared. This message will
only occur on the initial boot after flashing or clearing
the CMOS.
3. Press <F1> and reenter any parameters that might have
been cleared such as the date and time, etc.
If you experience any problems with this procedure, call
Dell Technical Support for assistance at 1-800-624-9896.
