  6. (IBMTOKMP.OS2, version M.2.02) NDIS driver for Symmetrical Multi Processing

  11. DIFFERENCES WITH THE IBM TOKEN-RING (IBMTOK.OS2) NDIS DRIVER

  13. The IBMTOKMP.OS2 NDIS driver for Symmetrical Multi Processing (SMP)
  14. systems, version M.2.02, is the same driver as the IBM Token-Ring (IBMTOK.OS2)
  15. NDIS driver except for changes that have been made to specifically work on SMP
  16. architectural systems.  The primary code difference between the two MAC drivers
  17. is the IBMTOKMP.OS2 driver does not directly manipulate the SMP's Programmable
  18. Interrupt Controller (PIC) to mask interrupts as does the IBMTOK.OS2 NDIS
  19. driver.

  23. IBMTOKMP.OS2 NDIS DRIVER RESTRICTIONS
  24.  
  25. The following restrictions apply to the IBMTOKMP.OS2 NDIS driver for SMP
  26. systems:

  28. 1. The IBMTOKMP.OS2 driver is only supported on SMP systems.
  29.  
  30. 2. The IBMTOK.OS2 driver is not supported on SMP systems.
  31.  
  32. 3. NO interrupt sharing is allowed with the IBMTOKMP.OS2 driver.

  34.      NOTE:  Testing has shown that IRQ 2, IRQ 7, and IRQ 9 are commonly
  35.             shared interrupts.  IRQ 2 and IRQ 9 are the cascade interrupt.
  36.             IRQ 7 is shared by the OS/2 parallel port device driver.
  37.             These interrupts have been found to cause various LAN problems
  38.             with the IBMTOKMP.OS2 device driver.
