Dialogic** SR 4.11 IBM* Upgrade Corrective Service for UR45801 README File
==========================================================================
This diskette contains corrective service updates to Dialogic SR 4.11 plus
the Dialogic Special Dialogic IBM PTR Fixes Upgrade. The Corrective Diskette
released with the base Dialogic SR 4.11 is superceded by the Dialogic IBM
Upgrade and this Corrective Service.
The update to the Aculab*** Download utility, which allows the utility to
run without user prompts, that was shipped with the original Corrective
Service is also with this Corrective Service.
This diskette also contains a Dialogic utility to display the version
number of the firmware.
The updates need to be installed by hand. Some updates are specific to a
particular hardware configuration. Please read these instructions
carefully to ensure that only the required files are installed, and that
the files are installed in the correct file directory.
These updates must be installed following any installation or
reinstallation of the Dialogic SR 4.11 diskettes and the Dialogic IBM Upgrade.
The files from this diskette must be applied after the Dialogic IBM
Upgrade diskette is applied. There is no need to reconfigure the Dialogic
system after installing these updates. The machine must, however, be
restarted (rebooted).
This corrective service diskette contains some new files over previous
issues, so please check the list given later in this README to make sure
that you have the correct file for your system installed. It is also advisable
to make a backup copy of the existing file before updating it. It may be that
the date/time of the fix file on this diskette is earlier than that of the
installed file; even in this case the fix file must still be installed.
INSTALLING UPDATES
------------------
Use the IBM* OS/2* COPY command to copy the files from this diskette to the
correct directory on your fixed disk. The COPY command can also be used to
make a backup copy of an existing file.
All the corrective update files are found on the root directory of this
diskette.
CONVENTIONS USED IN THIS README
-------------------------------
The examples in this README assume that the Dialogic software has been
installed in the directory C:\DIALOGIC. This is the default Dialogic
installation directory. If the Dialogic software is installed in a
different directory, the updates must be made in that directory and not the
one shown.
To confirm the Dialogic directory that has been used, look in the
CONFIG.SYS file for the Dialogic device driver lines. If the defaults are
used these have the form:
DEVICE=C:\DIALOGIC\BIN\GENLOAD.SYS
or, if the code has been installed on the D drive in directory DIAL411:
DEVICE=D:\DIAL411\BIN\GENLOAD.SYS
It is also assumed that OS/2 is installed on the C drive, again modify the
pathnames given if this is not correct.
GENERAL CORRECTIONS
-------------------
Diskette File File to Update When to apply the Update
------------- --------------------------- -------------------------------
VRXXXLIB.DLL C:\OS2\DLL\VRXXXLIB.DLL When a VR/160 board is installed
GENLOAD.SYS C:\DIALOGIC\BIN\GENLOAD.SYS When using any MCA system
DXGENDRV.SYS C:\DIALOGIC\BIN\DXGENDRV.SYS When using any system
VOXLIB.DLL C:\OS2\DLL\VOXLIB.DLL When using any system
VR160.FWL C:\DIALOGIC\DATA\VR160.FWL When a VR/160 board is installed
ACULAB DOWNLOAD UTILITY
-----------------------
When using the adapter download utility program supplied by Aculab
(MVCLDNLD.EXE), the type must be entered if loading CAS. A replacement for
this program which will accept the CAS type as a parameter is supplied on
this diskette.
NOTE: If you are using the Aculab Release 3 drivers, you must use the
download utility that comes with the new drivers. Do not use the download
program supplied on this CSD diskette.
With this replacement program, the download can be run without intervention
if you supply two input parameters:
1. Port number, which must be 0
2. CAS type, which must be 1 through 7 as follows:
1 R2B2P - Portugese R2
2 BTCU - BT Callstream User End
3 BTCN - BT Callstream Network User End
4 PD1D - Mercury
5 R2L
6 EM
7 P8
An example of a statement in STARTUP.CMD follows:
C:\ACULAB\CAS_MERC\MVCLDNLD 0 4
DIALOGIC FIRMWARE VERSION NUMBER UTILITY
----------------------------------------
This utility displays the firmware version number (for example, this might
be needed for service). Copy the file FWLVER.EXE from the diskette to a
directory in the OS/2 PATH, such as the main DirectTalk/2 directory.
To obtain help on the utility, execute the following at an OS/2 command prompt:
FWLVER ?
An example of use is the following, which is executed at an OS/2 command prompt:
FWLVER C:\DIALOGIC\DATA\D12X.FWL
DIALOGIC INFORMATION UTILITIES
------------------------------
There are two utilities on this diskette; INFO.EXE and SHOWINF.EXE.
INFO.EXE displays dialogic trace information, which may be needed for
service. SHOWINF.EXE provides a complete description of the Dialogic
hardware found on the system. A reboot is required after changing
Dialogic hardware for the data file that it reads to be updated. You
would normally do this anyway. Copy both files from the diskette to a
directory in the OS/2 PATH, such as the main Voice System directory.
OTHER REMINDERS
---------------
- The -o option must be used on both the Dialogic INSTALL and MAKECFG
commands, as in the following example:
A:>install -o
- MAKECFG will not reconfigure VR cards; VRCONF should be used to
reconfigure VR.
- For both MAKECFG and VRCONF the -d option should be used to specify the
location of the DIALOGIC.CFG file, as in the following example:
C:\DIALOGIC\BIN > vrconf -d c:\dialogic\config
- Always answer YES to the "is FBAM used" question in the Dialogic VR
configuration.
