SERVICE FOR EXTENDED SERVICES - DATABASE MANAGER:
The Database Manager component of Extended Services 1.0 has available
six SelectPaks. Essentially these are pieces of what might have been a
Database Manager Corrective Service Diskette, but packaged to meet
customer demand for granular electronic service. They are available on
CompuServe, Internet, OS2BBSs, and PCCBBS, by the following names(or some
derivative to meet naming schemes of the BBS). All supported languages
are available.
WRx6001 Kernel(Engine), SQLR, SQLZ, SQLQ, and SQLN fixes.
WRx6002 Database Manager Pre-Compiler (SQLA).
WRx6003 Database Manager Group Utilities (SQLU).
WRx6004 Distributed Data Services (SQLC).
WRx6014 Database Query Manager.
WRx6015 Database Manager PC DOS Requester (PCDR).
WRx7010 Database Manager DB2/2 1.0 Engine SelectPak
WRx7011 Database Manager DDCS/2 2.0 SelectPak

1.0. This ServicePak is scheduled for mid to late fourth quarter.
WRJ6036 Will be the DBCS countries (Japan, Korea, and Taiwan) version of
WRx6035. It will also pick up AT Bus support. This ServicePak
is targeted in the same time frame as WRx6035.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SERVICE FOR EXTENDED SERVICES - COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER:
The Communications Manager component of Extended Services 1.0 currently
has SelectPak (PTF = WR06116) on multiple BBSs. WR06025 has been added
as a ServicePak that will service the ES 1.0 Communication portion. It
should be available in the US in October, and NLV's late fourth quarter.
WR06116 Is an enhancement that provides a virtual device driver that
provides EHLLAPI to Windows applications in OS/2 2.0. The
package is named EHLSP016 (sometimes EHLLSP16) on various BBBs.
WRx6025 ServicePak will service the Communication Manager portion of
Extended Services 1.0. Available September in U.S..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SERVICE FOR LAN SERVER 2.0
IPx6030 Services both Entry and Advanced LAN Server 2.0. It includes
fixes for LAN Requester and DOS LAN Requester. Installation can
be done using CID services, although Domain Controllers and
Additional Servers are probably easier to update from diskette.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SERVICE FOR LAN SERVER 3.0
IPx7001 ServicePak services LS 3.0 Server, Requester, RIPL, User
Profile Manager(UPM), and Fault Tolerance.
IPx7003 SelectPak services LAN Server 3.0 DOS LAN Requester (this will
be available via electronic media from the OS2BBS, Compuserve
OS2BBS, Internet, and the PCCBBS).
IP07005 This SelectPak will provide some HPFS fixes, plus additional
for the LAN NetView product. This SelectPak is for users that
are not using now, or near term, LAN NetView. IP07006 is for
LAN Netview users and contains IP07005 completely plus some
additional fixes required for the OS/2 2.0 and 2.1 operating
systems, and DB2/2. DBCS countries (Japan, Korea, and Taiwan)
will use the SelectPak, IP07006 will not be available in DBCS
countries.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONVENIENCEPAK FOR LAN NETVIEW(R) USERS
IP07006 Is a Convenience Package for users of LAN Netview ...
Customers ordering LAN NetView will need to install APARs
on other products as a prerequisite.
The ConveniencePak will include fixes for the OS/2(*) 2.0
and 2.1 operating systems, LS 3.0, and DB2/2(*) products.
The ConveniencePak can be acquired by calling 1-800-992-4777
in the U.S., or by contacting your countries IBM service
organization for World Trade. The ConveniencePak will also
available on several major bulletin boards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
NTS/2 NETWORK TRANSPORT SERVICES/2 and LAPS LAN ADAPTER and PROTOCOL
SUPPORT (Combined package)
WRx7020 Service refresh for NTS/2 for LAN Server 3.0 and LAPS. This
Refresh replaces WR07008. National Language Versions will
start shipping mid October.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
ServicePaks for Extended Services and LAN Services are now separate, as
are the products themselves. The OS/2 components, once included in
CSDs, are no longer a part of the ES or LS ServicePaks.
Hence, the OS/2 extensions are beginning to depart from the historic CSD
approach with the presumption that the Base Operating System function
is available at the time service is applied. Future service will evolve
toward electronic distribution, media independence (ie. non-diskette),
and remote service (CID installs).
Initially ServicePaks will require Bootable Standalone Service Diskettes
in order to quiesce the systems to be serviced. Users may use either the
OS/2 Install Diskette(s) or create custom bootable diskettes to meet
this need. Many users already have custom bootable diskettes to perform
necessary maintenance like backing up locked files or running CHKDSK /F.
