This information is for VG20FP7. VG20FP7 contains fixes for VisualGen
Developer for OS/2 2.0, VisualGen Workgroup Services for OS/2 2.0.
VG20FP7 supersedes all previous fixes for VisualGen Developer for OS/2
2.0, VisualGen Workgroup Services for OS/2 2.0 and VisualGen Workgroup
Services for AIX 2.0. There may be an instance where a fix was
specifically made for you. To determine if the fix is in the fixpak
you can look at the list of apars below.
The fixpak is packaged so it is installable using Software Installer.
The fixpak will install the same way the product did from CD. The only
difference is that now the files will be on a hard drive instead of a
CD.
This fixpak is a group of self-extracting executables which contain a
group of fixtests, named:
DEVFP7B.EXE - Fixpak containing Developer for OS/2 2.0 base fixes
DEVFP7E.EXE - Fixpak containing Developer for OS/2 2.0 lang fixes
WGSFP7B.EXE - Fixpak containing Workgroup Svcs for OS/2 2.0 base fixes
WGSFP7E.EXE - Fixpak containing Workgroup Svcs for OS/2 2.0 lang fixes
WINFP7B.EXE - Fixpak containing GUI RT for Windows 2.0 base fixes
WINFP7E.EXE - Fixpak containing GUI RT for Windows 2.0 lang fixes

* The information in this box applies only to those customers *
* that have the 'EVALUATION COPY' copy of the VisualGen Developer *
* for OS/2. *
* *
* If you do not have the 'EVALUATION COPY' copy then skip all *
* information in this box. *
* *
* If you have the 'EVALUATION COPY' copy of the VisualGen *
* Developer then you MUST perform the step described below: *
* *
* Once you have downloaded and exploded DEVFP7B.EXE into *
* directory FIXDEV, as described in the instructions, you *
* will need to modify one of the files before you INSTALL the *
* fixpak. *
* *
* The file is FIXDEV\EZERDEV2\ENU\EZE2IBP.PKG. You will *
* need to comment out lines 53 through 61. These lines are *
* shown below. The comment character is an asterisk (*). *
* Here is a before and after look at the lines to be *
* modified. *
* *
* This is what you will see in EZE2IBP.PKG before you *
* comment them out. *

********************************************************************
********************************************************************
Follow these instructions to install the Developer and Workgroup
Services for OS/2 fixpak on your OS2 machine:
*************************************************************************
* Special Note for Workgroup Services for OS2 users: *
* DBCS CICS OS/2 users will require CICS FOR OS/2 version 2.0.1, CSD 6 *
* as the minimal level of CICS OS/2. *
*************************************************************************
* Special Note pertaining to Libary Reader users: *
* This fixpak includes fixes to Library Reader/2 and Library Reader *
* for Windows DBCS. If you installed either of these components *
* from the ViusalGen CD then you may want to update them with these *
* fixes. If you wish to update Library Reader/2 or Library Reader *
* for Windows DBCS then you must follow the same instructions in *
* Chapter 2 of the Installation Guide for VisualGen Developer and *
* Application Generators that you followed during the original *
* install. These instructions need to be followed AFTER the installation*
* of the fixpak. *
* These instructions for Library Reader/2 and Library Reader for *
* Windows DBCS do not apply to the Developer for OS/2 in Japanese. *
* The reason for this is because the Japanese CD already contained all *
* the fixes. *
*************************************************************************
* This section describes a known problem. It is being tracked and *
* fixed. The TeamConnection client receives a timestamp error when a *
* VG member is saved more than once without closing the view of the *
* member in VG. *
***********************************************************************
1. On your OS2 machine, create 2 temporary fixpak directories called
FIXDEV and FIXWGS. (These names are examples. You may change
them if you wish.)
2. Download DEVFP7B.EXE to the FIXDEV directory in binary.
Download DEVFP7E.EXE to the FIXDEV directory in binary.
Download WGSFP7B.EXE to the FIXWGS directory in binary.
Download WGSFP7E.EXE to the FIXWGS directory in binary.
Note: Do NOT, repeat, do NOT download WINFP7B.EXE or WINFP7n on your OS2
machine unless you will run VisualGen GUI Runtime for Windows. The
instructions for these files are listed below in a separate
section.
3. The EXE files will have to be exploded to give you the new product
parts. This can be done in several ways depending if you performed
a local or CID install for the original product.
Item 3.1 describes how to perform a local install of the fixpak.
Item 3.2 describes how to perform a CID install of the fixpak.
Choose the one appropriate for you.
3.1 If you did a local install, as described in Chapter 2 of the
Installation Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application
Generators, then follow these steps:
a) Explode DEVFP7B.EXE and DEVFP7E.EXE in the FIXDEV directory as shown:
cd \FIXDEV change directory to FIXDEV
DEVFP7B -d explode into parts
DEVFP7E -d explode into parts
b) Explode WGSFP7B.EXE and WGSFP7E.EXE in the FIXWGS directory as shown:
cd \FIXWGS change directory to FIXWGS
WGSFP7B -d explode into parts
WGSFP7E -d explode into parts
The -d switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The -d parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
c) To install the Developer fixes enter:
d:\FIXDEV\ENU\INSTALL
d) To install the WGS fixes enter:
d:\FIXWGS\ENU\INSTALL
3.2 If you did a CID install, as described in Chapter 6 of the
Installation Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application
Generators, then follow these steps:
a) Explode DEVFP7B.EXE and DEVFP7E.EXE in the FIXDEV directory as shown:
cd \FIXDEV change directory to FIXDEV
DEVFP7B -d explode into parts
DEVFP7E -d explode into parts
b) Explode WGSFP7B.EXE and WGSFP7E.EXE in the FIXWGS directory as shown:
cd \FIXWGS change directory to FIXWGS
WGSFP7B -d explode into parts
WGSFP7E -d explode into parts
The -d switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The -d parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
c) To install the Developer fixes:
XCOPY the files from d:\FIXDEV to d:\proddev by entering:
XCOPY d:\FIXDEV d:\proddev /S
where proddev is the directory that the product files from the
CD were XCOPYed to as described in Chapter 6 of the Installation
Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application Generators.
The /S switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The /S parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
d:\proddev\ENU\INSTALL parms
where parms are the CID install parms that you used for the
product install. There are two changes that you may want to
make to the original install parms when you install the
fixpak.
The first parm change would be to change the ACTION from INSTALL
to UPDATE. The second parm change would be not to update
CONFIG.SYS again since it was already updated during the original
product install.
d) To install the Workgroup Services fixes enter:
XCOPY the files from d:\FIXWGS to d:\prodwgs by entering:
XCOPY d:\FIXWGS d:\prodwgs /S
where prodwgs is the directory that the product files from
the CD were XCOPYed to as described in Chapter 3 of the
Installation Guide for VisualGen Workgroup Services for OS/2.
The /S switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The /S parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
d:\prodwgs\ENU\INSTALL parms
where parms are the CID install parms that you used for the
product install. There are two changes that you may want to
make to the original install parms when you install the
fixpak.
The first parm change would be to change the ACTION from INSTALL
to UPDATE. The second parm change would be not to update
CONFIG.SYS again since it was already updated during the original
product install.
4. As an optional step, you may now delete DEVFP7B.EXE, DEVFP7E.EXE,
WGSFP7B.EXE and WGSFP7E.EXE. These files are no longer neede once
they have been exploded. They are quite large and erasing them would
save a lot of space.
Furthermore, when everyone has installed the fixpak you can
delete the FIXDEV and FIXWGS directories and their subdirectories.
5. Reboot the machine if you have modified CONFIG.SYS.
**********************************************************************
Follow these instructions to install the GUI RT for Windows fixpak
on your DOS/Windows machine:
Note: This portion of the fixpak is only needed if you have installed
VisualGen GUI Runtime for Windows on a DOS/Windows machine. If
you have not installed VisualGen GUI Runtime for Windows on a
DOS/Windows machine then you can skip the install process
shown below.
1. On your OS2 machine, create a temporary fixpak directory called
FIXWIN. (This name is an example. You may change it if you wish.)
2. Download WINFP7B.EXE to the FIXWIN directory in binary.
Download WINFP7E.EXE to the FIXWIN directory in binary.
3. Files WINFP7B.EXE and WINFP7n.EXE are now on your OS/2 machine. They
should never be executed on an OS/2 machine since it runs on a DOS machine.
This can be done in one of two ways that follow:
* You can transport WINFP7B.EXE and WINFP7E.EXE to your DOS machine. You
should create a FIXWIN directory on your DOS machine to hold WINFP7B.EXE
and WINFP7E.EXE.
* You can have WINFP7B.EXE and WINFP7E.EXE reside on a lan drive (in directory
FIXWIN) where your DOS machine can access it.
4. The EXE files will have to be exploded to give you the new product
parts. This can be done in several ways depending if you performed
a local or CID install for the original product.
Item 4.1 describes how to perform a local install of the fixpak.
Item 4.2 describes how to perform a CID install of the fixpak.
Choose the one appropriate for you.
4.1 If you did a local install, as described in Chapter 2 of the
Installation Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application
Generators, then follow these steps:
a) Explode WINFP7.EXE and WINFP7E.EXE in the FIXWIN directory as shown:
cd \FIXWIN change directory to FIXWIN
WINFP7B -d explode into parts
WINFP7E -d explode into parts
The -d switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The -d parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
b) To install the GUI Runtime for Windows fixes:
Go to the Program Manager Window
Select FILE and then RUN from the pulldown
From the RUN window enter:
d:\FIXWIN\ENU\INSTALL
4.2 If you did a CID install, as described in Chapter 6 of the
Installation Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application
Generators, then follow these steps:
a) Explode WINFP7.EXE and WINFP7E.EXE in the FIXWIN directory as shown:
cd \FIXWIN change directory to FIXWIN
WINFP7B -d explode into parts
WINFP7E -d explode into parts
The -d switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The -d parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
b) To install the GUI Runtime for Windows fixes enter:
XCOPY the files from d:\FIXWIN to d:\prodwin by entering:
XCOPY d:\FIXWIN d:\prodwin /S
where prodwin is the directory that the product files from the
CD were XCOPYed to as described in Chapter 6 of the Installation
Guide for VisualGen Developer and Application Generators.
The /S switch allows the files to be placed in the correct
subdirectory structure. (The /S parameter is REQUIRED for
the files to be loaded properly!)
c) Go to the Program Manager Window
Select FILE and then RUN from the pulldown
From the RUN window enter:
d:\prodwin\ENU\INSTALL parms
where parms are the CID install parms that you used for the
product install. There are two changes that you may want to
make to the original install parms when you install the
fixpak.
The first parm change would be to change the ACTION from INSTALL
to UPDATE. The second parm change would be not to update
AUTOEXEC.BAT again since it was already updated during the
original product install.
5. As an optional step, you may now delete WINFP7B.EXE and WINFP7n.EXE.
The files are no longer needed once it has been exploded. They are
quite large and erasing them would save a lot of space.
Furthermore, when everyone has installed the fixpak you can
delete the FIXWIN directory and its subdirectories.
6. Reboot the machine if you have modified AUTOEXEC.BAT.
