Performance Tuning Program
DLS comes with a performance tuning program that runs under Windows** which
allows the user to modify network system settings in files such as
NETWORK.INI, PROTOCOL.INI, and CONFIG.SYS. This program is on DLS Diskette 3
under the name DLSTUNE.ZIP. To install this program:
1. You must be running MS Windows.
2. Create a program directory, such as DLSTEMP, on a local drive.
3. Access the Program Manager.
4. Select File-Run from the menu.
5. Copy the DLSTUNE.ZIP file into the directory you created in step 1.
6. Use the PKUNZIP.EXE program on DLS diskette #1 to unpack the DLSTUNE.ZIP
file into the DLSTEMP directory.
PKUNZIP DLSTUNE.ZIP
7. Once the file has been unpacked, start Windows** and run the SETUP.EXE
program that was unpacked in the local DLSTEMP program directory. This is
easily done from Windows** File Manager.
8. The SETUP.EXE program will ask for a target program directory. If the
local workstation is being tuned, specify the directory where DLS is
installed. If another workstation is being installed use the default
directory DLSTUNE and copy the PROTOCOL.INI, NETWORK.INI and CONFIG.SYS
files from that workstation into the DLSTUNE directory before starting
the tuning process. A DLSTUNE program group is created which contains
the DLSTUNE program icon and the DLSTUNE help icon.
If tuning for a number of other workstations you may want to copy the
DLSTune icon and create a separate Working Directory for each workstation
type.
9. Once Setup has completed, the directory created in step 1 can be deleted.
10. You may now start DLSTune by double-clicking on the DLSTune icon or
selecting it and pressing Enter.
11. Select Help and review the Overview section and the Step-by-Step
instructions. The Step-by-Step instructions will stay on the
screen along side DLSTune as you work.
