DatagLANce Network Analyzer Version 1.30 Corrective Services - READ.ME File
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This file contains important information about:
o Problems fixed by these corrective services
o Errors in the Hard-copy DatagLANce User's Guide
o New Functions in these corrective services
*******************************************************************************
PROBLEMS FIXED BY THESE CORRECTIVE SERVICES
*******************************************************************************
Device Driver Problems Resolved:
o Token Ring Device Driver -> When capturing data using adapter slicing, the
device driver would randomly record incorrect length for the frame. This
would cause the system to hang when trying to view the captured data or
trying to transmit it.
o DatagLANce Device Drivers -> VMALLOC fails when initializing the device
drivers on OS/2 2.0.
o Ethernet Transmit for PCMCIA Adapter -> When trying to transmit data on
a network with heavy traffic, transmission stops. Can not transmit again
unless machine is rebooted
Network Analyzer Application Problems Resolved:
o Ethernet and Token Ring Monitor -> System hangs when tyring to print a
history report for captured data or a custom event when when there are no
statistics gathered.
Protocol Analysis Application, Filtering, and Decoding Problems Resolved:
o DatagLANce Protocol Analysis -> Random behavior when viewing certain
size captured data files. Program would assume the end of file had been
reached when only in the middle of files.

ERRORS IN THE HARD-COPY DATAGLANCE USER'S GUIDE
*******************************************************************************
Chapter 2, page 17, section "The High-Resolution Timestamp Option":
The chapter should read:
Because standard timestamp resolution is just 10-msec for token-ring
and 32-msec for Ethernet, the ...
Chapter 7, page 151, second to last paragraph on the page:
o Each time you start transmission, this sequence number starts
with 1 and is incremented by for each frame transmitted.
should read:
o Each time you start transmission, this sequence number starts
with 1 and is incremented by 1 for each frame transmitted.
Appendix D, page 173, third paragraph from bottom of the page:
o The Clear push button clears all symbolic names from the list.
should read:
o The Clear push button clears all symbolic names from the list. For
symbolic addresses, the list is re-initialized to the default addresses
stored in the file STATDEF.SYM for the selected address level.
Appendix D, page 174, last sentence of last paragraph:
o If colons and dashes are not used, you much specify MSB or LSB
before the ID.
should read:
o If colons and dashes are not used, you must specify MSB or LSB
before the address.
Appendix G, page 181:
The reserved flags fields of dataglance_file_header_struct should be:
/* 0000 0.0. = Reserved */
Appendix H, section "SNMP Traps from the DatagLANce Network Analyzer:
The MIB Definition":
The MIB definition has errors that do not allow it to be compiled.
The definition has been corrected in the on-line User Documentation
Glossary, page 196:
o jadder frame
should read:
o jabber frame
In addition to these errors, the on-line user's guide has been updated
to have these new/modified sections that are not in the hard-copy user's guide:
"Controlling the DatagLANce Network Analyzer by the Keyboard"
"Command Line Interface to the DatagLANce Network Analyzer"
Appendix D has added information about default symbolic names files.
