UHPFS.DLL fix for CPS:EXTENT NOT FOUND error
The enclosed UHPFS.DLL fixes an error in the HPFS CHKDSK command
that caused "CPS:EXTENT NOT FOUND" and other "CPS:" errors when an
HPFS partition was shut down improperly.
All OS/2 2.0 users who use HPFS should apply this fix. It is
compatible with OS/2 2.0 GA as well as the ServicePak (XR06055).
To apply the fix, perform the following procedure:
1) Use DISKCOPY to make a copy of your original OS/2 Diskette #2.
2) COPY the enclosed UHPFS.DLL to the copy of Diskette #2.
3) Insert the OS/2 INSTALLATION diskette in drive A: and re-boot.
4) When prompted, insert OS/2 Diskette #1 in drive A:
5) When the "WELCOME TO OS/2" screen appears, press [ESC]. This
will bring you to an OS/2 command prompt.
6) Insert the copy of Diskette #2 in drive A:
7) type: CHKDSK x: /F (where x is the letter of your HPFS partition)
Repeat this step for all HPFS partitions.
8) Copy the enclosed UHPFS.DLL to the \OS2\DLL subdirectory of your
OS/2 boot partition.
9) restart your system.
By running CHKDSK in the above procedure, any existing CPS errors will
be repaired. By copying the new UHPFS.DLL to your OS/2 boot partition,
any further errors will be prevented.
Other fixes in this file:
1) When formatting an HPFS partition larger than 4GB, OS/2 would not
report the correct free bytes on the partition. This is now fixed.
2) When running CHKDSK on a partition larger than 4GB, information
could be lost. This is now fixed.
