  2.              OS2LDR - Service Pack Replacement.
  3.  
  4. This package includes 2 files - OS2LDR and OS2LDRD.
  5.  
  6. OS2LDR is a replacement for the file of the same name that resides
  7. in the root of the boot drive. The file has the hidden, system and
  8. readonly attributes set, so these will have to be reset with
  9. "attrib -r -h -s os2ldr" or similar before the file can be replaced.

  11. OS2LDRD is a debug version, that should be renamed to OS2LDR to be
  12. used. You should only use the debug version in the event of problems
  13. as IBM need to examine the debug output to determine the cause of
  14. the problem.

  16. You should back up the existing file before replacing in case you
  17. should need to revert to the original version.

  19. This code is at OS/2 2.0 plus Service Pack (XR06055) level. This
  20. code should NOT be run on OS/2 2.0 GA or OS/2 2.1.

  22. To use the debug version, replace OS2LDR with OS2LDRD. When the
  23. system boots, the debug version will output trace and dump
  24. information out of the COM port at 9600,n,8,1. COM2 will be used
  25. if it can be found. otherwise COM1 will be used.

  27. This debug information should be captured using a second machine
  28. attached to the COM port via a null modem cable, and running an
  29. ASCII comunication package such as PROCOMM. This debug information
  30. will need to be sent to IBM to be analysed.

  32. Fixes in previous OS2LDR service pack fix :
  33.    - Enable memory above the 16 meg line in EISA machines.
  34.  
  35. Additional fixes in this OS2LDR service pack fix :
  36.    - SPM/2 would trap in device driver OEMHLP$.
  37.    - IBM model 90/95s would not boot with certain memory adapters
  38.      that forced discontiguous RAM mapping. Note that due to a BIOS
  39.      bug, reference diskette level 1.31 or high is also required
  40.      to resolve this problem.
  41.    - RAM loaded ABIOS machines would not boot if the power on
  42.      password was set to unattended (server) mode.
  43.    - Version information added to identify the different OS2LDR
  44.      versions. Use a hex editor (or dump) and search for the
  45.      string "OS2LDR" ... this string is followed by a release
  46.      number and date.
