  2. The following section replaces pages 77 and 78 of the
  3. OS/2 2.1 Installation Guide.
  4. Corrections are indicated by a | to the left of the text.

  7. COPYING THE RESPONSE FILE TO DISKETTE
  8. _____________________________________
  9.  
  10.    The following is a list of the steps you would
  11.    perform to modify a response file and then
  12.    place the response file on a copy of Diskette
  13.    1.  To copy the response file onto a diskette,
  14.    you must make some modifications to Diskette 1.
  15.    These modifications make room on the diskette
  16.    for the response file.
  17.  
  18.    1.  Make a copy of Diskette 1.  You will modify
  19.        the copy.
  20.  
  21.    2.  Make extra room on the copy of Diskette 1
  22.        by deleting files that will not be needed
  23.        in a response file installation:
  24.  
  25.        a.  Delete the MOUSE.SYS file from the copy
  26.            of Diskette 1.
  27.  
  28.        b.  Delete the SYSINST2.EXE file from the
  29.            copy of Diskette 1.
  30.  
  31.        c.  Delete the BUNDLE file from the copy of
  32.            the Diskette 1.
  33.  
  34.        d.  If you are installing OS/2 2.1 on a
  35.            Micro Channel(*) computer, delete the
  36.            following file from your copy of
  37.            Diskette 1:

  39.                IBM1*.ADD
  40.  
  41.        e.  If you are installing OS/2 2.1 on a
  42.            non-Micro Channel computer, delete the
  43.            following files from your copy of
  44.            Diskette 1:
  45.  
  46.                IBM2*.ADD
  47.                *02.SYS
  48.  
  49.        f.  Edit the CONFIG.SYS file that exists on
  50.            the copy of Diskette 1.

  52.            1)  Change the SET OS2_SHELL statement
  53.                from:

  55.                       set os2_shell=sysinst2.exe
  56.  
  57.                to:
  58.  
  59.                       set os2_shell=rspinst.exe a:\os2se20.rsp
  60.  
  61.            2)  Delete the following statement:
  62.  
  63.                       device=\mouse.sys
  64.  
  65.            3)  If you are installing OS/2 2.1 on a
  66.                Micro Channel computer, delete the
  67.                following statements from the
  68.                CONFIG.SYS file on your copy of
  69.                Diskette 1:
  70.  
  71.                    BASEDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD
  72.                    BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD
  73.  
  74.            4)  If you are installing OS/2 2.1 on a
  75.                non-Micro Channel computer, delete
  76.                the following statements from the
  77.                CONFIG.SYS file on your copy of
  78.                Diskette 1:
  79.  
  80.                    BASEDEV=IBM2FLPY.ADD
  81.                    BASEDEV=IBM2ADSK.ADD
  82.                    BASEDEV=IBM2SCSI.ADD
  83.  
  84.    3.  Make a copy of the SAMPLE.RSP file (located
  85.        in the OS2\INSTALL directory).
  86.  
  87.    4.  Use an editor (such as the System Editor)
  88.        to modify and save the file.  The file
  89.        contains comments that explain each of the
  90.        installation options.  Make sure you delete
  91.        the commented lines when you modify the
  92.        file.

  94.    5.  Copy the modified response file to the copy
  95.        you made of Diskette 1.  Use the name
  96.        OS2SE20.RSP when you copy the file.
  97.  
  98.    6.  Copy the RSPINST.EXE file (located in the
  99.        OS2\INSTALL directory) to the copy of
  100.        Diskette 1.

  102. |  7.  If you are installing OS/2 2.1 from
  103. |      diskettes or a CD-ROM you will also need to
  104. |      modify the Installation Diskette.
  105. |
  106. |      a.  Make a copy of the OS/2 2.1
  107. |          Installation Diskette.
  108. |      b.  Delete the *.BIO and ABIOS.SYS files
  109. |          from the copy of the Installation
  110. |          Diskette.
  111. |      c.  Copy the *.BIO and ABIOS.SYS files from
  112. |          the Reference diskette for your
  113. |          computer to the copy of the
  114. |          Installation Diskette.
  115. |      d.  Use the copy during the installation
  116. |          process instead of the original.

  118.    8.  Begin the installation of the workstation
  119.        by inserting the Installation Diskette and
  120.        restarting the system.
  121.  
  122.    9.  When prompted for Diskette 1, insert the
  123.        modified copy of Diskette 1, and press
  124.        Enter.

  126.    From this point, the installation program will
  127.    prompt only for the insertion of diskettes.  No
  128.    other installation screens will appear.

  130.    Note:  When prompted to insert Diskette 1
  131.    again, insert the original copy of Diskette 1.

  133.    This procedure can be used to install the same
  134.    set of options on multiple workstations.  Using
  135.    a response file, you can make sure that a group
  136.    of workstations is set up with the same set of
  137.    options.

  141. In the read_me in the Information Folder the following
  142. replaces the second paragraph in the
  143. OS/2 APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY section:

  145. |  If you are using Lotus 123G for OS/2 2.0 or Lotus
  146. | Freelance Graphics for OS/2 2.0, you need to run the
  147. | following utility prior to using these products with
  148. | OS/2 2.1.
