StandAloneDiskMaker instructions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Why I wrote it:
It seems that a lot of AF readers want to be able to install a program on a
disk and have it run automatically on startup, ie Notepad, Hacktrick.60hz
and so on. This script file is designed to make it only slightly harder than
falling off a very small log. Another reason is so Amiga Format give me
money.
2. How to use it:
It's very simple:
1 Boot off your Workbench disk.
2 Drag StandAloneDiskMaker into the ram disk.
3 Drag whatever program you want to use there too, and rename it "Auto".
(You do this by clicking once on its icon, selecting rename from the
Workbench menu, then pressing DEL to remove the name from the box in the
middle of the screen, and then typing auto.)
4 Double click on the StandAloneDiskMaker icon, and follow the onscreen
prompts.
Have a blank disk ready. When it asks you for a blank disk, or for volume
Autodisk, use it. When it's finished, reboot.
I told you it was simple
3. What it can't do:
Anything that has to load in other files. This means AmigaBASIC programs
(although it works with the AmigaBASIC editor) or anything which has its
own special library files.
Anything much longer than 500k.
Anything which won't run from the CLI.
4. What you need:
An Amiga (bad joke:-(
At least one meg of RAM. Sorreee, half meg owners.
A version of workbench it will work with. I've only tested it with v1.3,
but I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work with v1.2 or v2.0
(v2.1,v3.0...?)
