Workplace Shell Icon Package
Version 2.0
by Jeff Howard
>>>> NEW VERSION 2.0 for OS/2 2.1
Dress up that Workplace with these icons that are designed to be
colorful but not garish. Want to give your system that Mac look?
Here are the icons to do it. Want to spruce up those boring group
icons? You have multiple choices for alternatives here. WPSICONS
includes new folder icons, new palette icons, icons for Undelete,
icons for specific apps and file types. Also, new in Version 2.0,
is more complete support for 1024x768 resolutions in most icons.
To install, simply use your favorite downloader to binary download
the WPSICONS ZIPBIN file as WPSICONS.ZIP. Use the latest version of
PKUNZIP2 for OS/2 to unpack into a directory such as C:\Icons. Now go to
the folder or object of your choice, open settings, go to General tab.
Open the folder containing your icons and drag one to the icon on the
General page of the object whose icon you wish to change and drop.
VOILA! You have changed your icon. To change it again, repeat the
drag and drop with another icon (for 2.1 users only). OS/2 2.0 users
still need to use Find... to get to the icons.
These icons have mostly come from my hand but many are admittedly based
on the work of others. Other icons are from products on OS/2 or
Win-OS/2 apps and are included for convenience.
TIP:
To have easy access to folders that are pre color-coded, create
multiple Folder Templates with names like "Folder - Blue" or
"Folder - Green" in the Templates folder on the Desktop. They then
show up on the Create Another menu of any folder's pop-up and provide
a very easy way to access nicely colored folders. You can also
use the spreadsheet folder (FLDRSSHT.ICO) the same way with a
template called "Folder - Spreadsheets" for example.
Hope you enjoy!
