SIGNALS.ZIP - A collection of signal flag icons for OS/2
These icons are the standard ship's signals. The alphabet
icons are named using the standard mnemonic forms.
The designs were created on a standard VGA system (32x32 icon
format), but with any luck will look fine on systems using 40x40
format. Feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
> Files included in this ZIP:
README.TXT - the file you are now reading.
FILE_ID.DIZ - Used by some systems to identify ZIPs. Go ahead
and shred this one, because you won't need it anymore.
SIGFOLD1.ICO, SIGFOLD2.ICO - animation icons for the SIGNALS folder.
> Signal flag icons (the file extension .ICO has been omitted):
Repeater flags: 1_REPEAT, 2_REPEAT, 3_REPEAT
Alphabet: ALPHA, BRAVO, CHARLIE, DELTA, ECHO, FOXTROT,
GOLF, HOTEL, INDIA, JULIET, KILO, LIMA, MIKE,
NOVEMBER, OSCAR, PAPA, QUEBEC, ROMEO, SIERRA, TANGO,
UNIFORM, VICTOR, WHISKEY, X_RAY, YANKEE, ZULU
Digits: _0_, _1_, _2_, _3_, _4_, _5_, _6_, _7_, _8_, _9_
> Usage:
I created these icons for my own amusement. Use them for
whatever you wish, as long as you do not charge money for it.
If you like them, or have suggestions, please send me a
note via E-Mail (my address is at the end of this document).
Here's an idea that you may try:
It is easy to create a special "signal" using these icons. Set
up an empty folder on the OS/2 desktop. Use "Ctrl+Drag" to drag
off a copy of each letter you need. Rename the copies to be
01.ICO, 02.ICO, 03.ICO, in turn. (Holding down the ALT key and
clicking on an object with the left mouse button is the easiest
way to rename any object in OS/2.)
One you have the sentence built, open the settings notebook for
the folder, and click on the VISIBLE checkbox on page one. The
temporary icon names will vanish, leaving just the flags.
Have fun!
