  4. This package includes 183 good-looking icons for your OS/2 2.x system.
  5. They will work in VGA, XGA, XGA/2, and SVGA mode.  All contain a VGA
  6. version, and most contain a high-res (1024) version.  Those that don't
  7. will be automatically (and correctly) scaled by your system.
  8.  
  9. If you have only this package of icons or less than 200 total, it is
  10. OK to put them all in a single subdirectory.  Otherwise, your search
  11. times will suffer and you might have memory problems if you attempt to
  12. open an Icon View of the subdirectory using GA 2.0.
  13.  
  14. All icons were hand-created by myself, except for a few which were
  15. obtained from other IBMers or from software packages and then altered
  16. by myself.  The IBMers whose icons I used are Jeffrey L. Howard,
  17. Jim Stewart, Mike Southerland, Johnny Nge, Tim O. Conroy, and
  18. Nobuyuki Yoshida.  Some icons are registered trademarks or copyright
  19. of their respective companies.

  21. As far as I know, these icons will work on 1.3, but I have no idea how to
  22. change the icons on 1.3 as I have never used it.  Installation for 2.x
  23. is as follows:

  25. For OS/2 2.0 GA or GA+SP:
  26. ------------------------
  27. * Open the settings notebook for the object whose icon you wish to
  28.   change.
  29. * Go to the GENERAL page, and press the FIND button.
  30. * In the find window, press the LOCATE button.
  31. * In the locate notebook, either select a folder (if your icon sub-
  32.   directory is opened on the desktop) or go to the PATH page and type
  33.   in the path to the correct subdirectory.
  34. * Press the OK button.
  35. * If you know the name of the icon you wish, type over the "*".  Wild-
  36.   cards are allowed.
  37. * Press FIND.
  38. * Select the icon you want and press OK.
  39. * Wait until the icon is replaced before closing the settings folder.

  41. For OS/2 2.1 Beta Code (December, version 6.479):

  43. * Open the settings notebook for the object whose icon you wish to
  44.   change.
  45. * Go to the GENERAL page, and press the FIND button.
  46. * Type over the path of the icon subdirectory, or use the LOCATE button
  47.   as described above.
  48. * If you know the name of the icon you wish, type over the "*".  Wild-
  49.   cards are allowed.
  50. * If you are using 2.1 beta code, click on the "Data File" entry in the
  51.   menu box.
  52. * Press FIND.
  53. * Select the icon you want and press OK.
  54. * Wait until the icon is replaced before closing the settings folder.

  56. For OS/2 2.1 (March Version 6.498 Beta and greater):

  58. * Use the procedure for the earlier 2.1 Beta or 2.0 OR:
  59. * Open an icon view of the directory with the icon in it.
  60. * Open the settings notebook for the object whose icon you wish to
  61.   change.
  62. * Go to the GENERAL page.
  63. * Drag the icon out of it's folder and drop on the general page of the
  64.   settings notebook.
