COMPASS.ZIP - Sixteen alternate pointer sets for OS/2 Warp
These pointer sets let you redirect the mouse to any compass direction.
Inside the COMPASS folder you will find folders for each direction,
with suitable names (such as NORTH, WEST, N_W, NNW, and so on). If your
unZIP program keeps the OS/2 Extended Attributes, you should find the
directional folders arranged in two circles within the COMPASS folder.
Make sure you DON'T use ARRANGE on the folder: just re-size the edges
until you can see the full arrangement.
All you need to do to install these pointers in Warp is to drag the
desired directional folder(s) into the \OS2\POINTERS folder on your OS/2
drive. Do NOT drag the entire COMPASS folder into the POINTERS folder;
instead, just take the ones you want out of COMPASS. (You may want
to look in a few of the folders first, to see what they look like.)
Then, open the OS/2 SETTINGS folder (click with the right mouse
button on an empty spot on the desktop, then click on System Setup).
Open the MOUSE object, and click on the POINTERS tab. Click on "Load
Set", select the set you want, then click on LOAD - that's it!
There is a 17th folder (called EXTRAS) in the COMPASS folder: this
folder is NOT an OS/2 pointer set. Instead, it contains some alternate
versions of a few of the pointers (a different MOVE pointer, plus three
different alternatives for the WAIT pointer). If you want to fix up any
of the directional sets with an alternate pointer, just drag and drop a
copy (Ctrl+Drag) of the alternate pointer into the set you want to
modify. Make sure that you rename the pointer properly (for instance,
use Alt+Left Mouse Click to change WAIT1.PTR to WAIT.PTR).
In addition, each directional folder contains a separate alternate
for the ILLEGAL pointer. If you like the alternate better than the
original, just switch the names on ILLEGAL.PTR and ILLEGAL1.PTR.
