DOS games I've been running under OS/2 1.3 on a drive entirely HPFS'd
and for which I've drawn icons.

carrier.icP Carrier Command (unknown author)
chicago.icP Chicago 90
ferrari.icP Ferrari Formula 1 (my daughter's try)
highway.icP Highway Patrol II
indy3.icP Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
kq5.icP King's Quest V
lasthalf.icP The Last Half
maniac2.icP Maniac Mansion
midwintr.icP Midwinter
monkey3.icP The Secret of Monkey Island
opst2.icP Operation Stealth
pipe.icP Pipe Mania (Pipe Dream)
poc1.icP Ports of Call
pp1.icP Prince of Persia
rrt1.icP RailRoad Tycoon

simeart1.icP SimEarth
win.icP Windows 3.0 (no, it's not an error, I launch Windows
from OS/2, then from Windows, another series of games
are launched)
How do I associate an icon to a DOS program?
1. Example directory.
My disk layout put games in sub-directory of directory GAMES and icons
in directory ICONS
\ ---+--- GAMES ---+--- KQ5 --- (King's Quest files)
| +--- PP ---- (Prince of Persia files)
| +--- MM ---- (Maniac Mansion files)
| +-- and so on.
+--- ICONS --- (icon files)
2. Associating an icon file to a file.
-------------------------------------
Go to OS/2's File Manager.
Select the file which usually starts the game, e.g. MANIAC.EXE, by clicking
on it to highlight. (If a game starts with an xxx.BAT, select the xxx.BAT).
Move mouse pointer to File Manager's menu bar and select successively:
File -> Properties -> Icon..
It displays Icon window.
Inside it, for the Icon filename, enter C:\ICONS\MANIAC2.ICP .
Click 'Show' to verify, then 'ok' twice and exit File Manager.
3. Creating a new Group.
------------------------
Go to OS/2's Desktop Manager window.
Move mouse pointer to Desktop Manager's menu bar and select:
Group -> New..
It displays New Group window.
Inside it, for the Group name, enter 'Adventure Games' .
Click 'Add' and exit Desktop Manager.
4.1. Adding a new Program to the newly created 'Adventure Games' Group.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Open and go to Aventure Games group.
Move pointer to its menu bar and select:
Program -> New..
It displays New Program window.
Enter the Program title 'Maniac Mansion', path filename C:\GAME\MM\MANIAC.EXE.
At the Program type, select ** DEFAULT **, instead of 'DOS full screen'.
Click 'Add' : it ends adding the new program.
The Adventure Games group should display now a line 'Maniac Mansion' with
its associated icon.
If there's no icon, move pointer to the group's menu bar and select
View -> Icon
4.2. Changing an icon to a program already installed in a group.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Associate the new icon file to the executable file as in (1) above.
Open the Adventure Games group.
Move pointer to its menu bar and select:
Program -> Properties..
It displays the Properties window: there's nothing to change inside it,
just click on Change to close the Properties window!
The updated icon immediately replaces the previous one.
That's all.
The game can be started by opening Adventure Games group and clicking
on its icon / program title line.
The description sounds terribly complex, but when it's done once,
it is straightforward.
