  2. INTRODUCTION
  3. ============

  5. RADIATION DECAY provides radioactive decay information for 497 
  6. radionuclides.
  7. Data provided include the half life, radioactive daughter nuclides, decay 
  8. chain series, probabilities per decay, and Decay product energies for 
  9. alphas, betas, positrons, electrons, X-rays, and photons.
  10.  
  11. The radionuclide can be selected from an Alphabetical list, or selected 
  12. from a Periodic Table.
  13. (These are available from the 'Select' Item of the menu bar.)
  14.  
  15. Full coping to clipboard and output to printer is supported.
  16.  
  17. The radioactive elements can be searched, to find an element that emitts
  18. a particular photon.   
  19. For example, say a spectrum gives two photon peaks at 150 keV and 420 keV.
  20. The radioactive elements can be searched for photons that give a 150 keV,
  21. then the previously found elements can be searched for the 420 keV photon.
  22. Hence spectrums can be matched to photon emitters.

  24. This program is essentially a Windows duplicate of the shareware Dos 
  25. program RADDECAY.EXE.

  32. PROGRAM OPERATION
  33. =================
  34.  
  35. To get started, copy the program DECAY.EXE and associated data files 
  36. (*.REC) to a directory of your hardrive.  This will be achieved by unziping
  37. the pkzip file to a directory.
  38. The *.REC files must be in the same directory as the executable DECAY.EXE.
  39.  
  40. The program icon should then be inserted into a program group of Program 
  41. Manger.  This is achieved by selecting FILE then NEW then PROGRAM ITEM on 
  42. the Program Mangers Menu bar.
  43. Choose BROWSE in the submenu, and located the program DECAY.EXE then 
  44. choose OK.

  46. Start the program by double clicking on the program icon displayed by 
  47. the program manager.

  49. Select the HELP menu item to obtain a windows help file for more information.

  52. REQUIREMENTS
  53. ============

  55. The program is designed to run under MS-Windows 3.1 or 3.11
  56. It is written in Borland Delphi, and hence requires no external DLL's.
  57.  
  58. The program Requires that the eight data files, be in the same directory as 
  59. the executable DECAY.EXE.

  71. FREEWARE INFORMATION

  74. This program and data files are free-ware, hence the Authors gives permission 
  75. for making copies of this program, and using the data files contained within, 
  76. 'Without Restriction'.
  77. The program code (DECAY.EXE) is my work, yet the data files (*.REC) are from
  78. data files included with the DOS program RADDECAY released as free-ware by 
  79. Grove Engineering.  
  80. Grove Engineering gives permission for making copies of their  program, and to
  81. use the data *.rec files of their program.  As they state, 'Permission is 
  82. granted for making copies of RADDECAY without any restrictions.  Also when 
  83. you create a program that uses any of the .REC files, you should acknowledge 
  84. the Authoring'.copies of the data files.The authors being:  
  85.      a) Grove Engineering as the originators of the microcomputer 
  86.         formatted files, and
  87.      b) RSIC as the original source of the data,

  90. If you use the program, it would be nice to get an Email.  
  91. If I know that the program has use to others, I will continue to work on
