  52. The following paragraph is an extract from the license agreement regarding
  53. the distribution of the Shareware version of dBOrganiser:

  55.    Provided that you verify that you are distributing the Shareware Version
  56.    in its original archive file, you are hereby licenced to make as many
  57.    copies of the Shareware version of this software and documentation as
  58.    you wish; give exact copies of the original Shareware version to anyone;
  59.    and distribute the Shareware version of the software and documentation
  60.    in its unmodified form via electronic means.

  76. Easily organise the tables and queries stored in any Microsoft Jet database
  77. with such operations as import, export, attach, rename and delete. 
  78. Its split window enables you to view the tables and queries contained in
  79. your Jet database alongside those contained in another database. This Other
  80. Database may be another Jet database or an external database. The Jet
  81. database engine is used by such applications as Microsoft Access. External
  82. databases are used in other applications such as dBase, Paradox, Microsoft
  83. Excel, ODBC databases and many others.

  85. dBOrganiser also includes some very powerful database utilities that allows
  86. you to backup, repair, compact or convert a database from an earlier to a
  87. later version.

  89. dBOrganiser is designed to be used both as a stand alone application,
  90. suitable for the database user or developer, as well as a Jet database
  91. application add-on. As an add-on it extends the capabilities of any Jet
  92. database application, such as a Visual Basic application. Adding
  93. dBOrganiser features, such as exporting to other applications (eg Microsoft
  94. Excel), to an existing database application, gives the developer greater
  95. functionality, with a focus on user-friendliness, at a minimal cost.

  99. INSTALLATION
  100. ------------

  102. The installation file has command line options that can be used to install
  103. dBOrganiser manually. This is useful for a number of reasons. For example
  104. installing to a network version of Windows can cause problems if the user
  105. does not have write privileges to some of the Windows directories. Using
  106. Manual Mode installation allows you to nominate alternative directories.
  107.  
  108. The following installation modes are available:
  109.  
  110. Test Mode
  111. When you run the installation executable with the /T command line option,
  112. the installation script will be tested.  Although the installation will
  113. look the same, no changes to your system will be made.  No files will be
  114. copied and no INI or Program Manager changes will be made.  This mode is
  115. useful when testing an installation script before it is distributed.
  116.  
  117. Manual Mode
  118. The /M option runs the installation in manual mode.  You will be prompted
  119. for the locations of your Windows, System, and Temp directories.  You can
  120. specify any directories, if they do not exist they will be created.  Any
  121. changes to INI files will be saved into the Windows directory you specify.
  122. With this option you can have the installation run without installing any
  123. files into your real Windows and System directory.  You can then manually
  124. copy the files to their proper destination.

  126. Extract Mode
  127. The /X command line option allows you to extract single files from the
  128. installation executable.  The files that are contained in the installation
  129. executable will be listed along with the file dates and sizes.  You can
  130. then select a file and choose the directory to place the file into.  If you
  131. follow the /X option with a pathname, all of the files in the installation
  132. executable will be placed into that directory.
  133. If the directory does not exist, it will be created.  The /Z command line
  134. option acts exactly like to /X option except Windows will be exited after
  135. the files are extracted.  This can be useful for BBS operators that want to
  136. perform virus scanning on all of the files in the installation executable.

  138. Silent Mode
  139. The /S command line option must be placed at the beginning of the command
  140. line. This option can be used to create a silent installation, no
  141. background or progress dialogs are displayed during the installation when
  142. this option is specified. Normally this option is followed by the pathname
  143. of an INI file that contains all of the answers to the normal prompts
  144. displayed during the installation. Your installation script can use these
  145. values instead of prompting the user (using the Read INI Value script
  146. item). This option can be useful for network administrators that wish to
  147. install software remotely over a network.

  149. For example to install dBOrganiser in manual mode, if using:

  152.   select Run on the Start Button and enter: ORG32_32.EXE /M
  153.  
  154. Windows 3.1x
  155.   select Run from the File menu of File Manager and enter: ORG32_16.EXE /M

  172. dBOrganiser. If you come across an idea that you think might make a nice
  173. enhancement to dBOrganiser, your input is always welcome.
  174. If you experience something you think might be a bug in dBOrganiser, please
  175. report it to us. Describe what you did, what happened, what version of
  176. dBOrganiser you have, any error messages dBOrganiser gave, what kind of
  177. computer you have, which operating system you're using, and anything else
  178. you think might be relevant.

  188. LICENSE AND LEGAL INFORMATION

  193. One copy of the shareware version of dBOrganiser may be used by a single
  194. person for evaluation purposes without charge for 30 days.  Subsequent
  195. downloads of the shareware version by or for the same user do not extend,
  196. renew, or otherwise restart the term of the license for the shareware
  197. version.

  199. One copy of the registered version of dBOrganiser may either be used by a
  200. single person who uses the software personally on one or more computers, or
  201. installed on a single workstation used non-simultaneously by multiple
  202. people, but not both. You may access the registered version of dBOrganiser
  203. through a network, provided that you have obtained individual licenses for
  204. the software covering all workstations that will access the software
  205. through the network.  For instance, if eight different workstations will
  206. access dBOrganiser on the network, each workstation must have its own
  207. dBOrganiser license, regardless of whether they use dBOrganiser at different 
  208. times or concurrently. Site licenses of the software may be obtained from
  209. Chisel Software which cover each workstation at one location.

  211. You may make a reasonable number of copies of the registered version of the
  212. software for backup and archival purposes.

  214. LICENSE TO REDISTRIBUTE

  216. Provided that you verify that you are distributing the Shareware Version
  217. (select About from the dBOrganiser Help menu to check) in its original archive
  218. file, you are hereby licenced to make as many copies of the Shareware version
  219. of this software and documentation as you wish; give exact copies of the 
  220. original Shareware version to anyone; and distribute the Shareware version
  221. of the software and documentation in its unmodified form via electronic
  222. means. There is no charge for any of the above.

  249. indirect or other damages including, without limitation, any lost profits
