VENDOR INFORMATION
------------------
The following information is for Shareware Distributors and Disk Vendors
who wish to distribute the dBOrganiser package, including an extract from
the license agreement and suggested program descriptions and keywords.
Distribution
The following paragraph is an extract from the license agreement regarding
the distribution of the Shareware version of dBOrganiser:
Provided that you verify that you are distributing the Shareware Version
in its original archive file, you are hereby licenced to make as many
copies of the Shareware version of this software and documentation as
you wish; give exact copies of the original Shareware version to anyone;
and distribute the Shareware version of the software and documentation
in its unmodified form via electronic means.
Suggested One Line Program Description:
Database utility to import, export, attach, rename and delete the tables
and queries contained in a Microsoft Jet database as well as backup, repair,
compact and convert a database from an earlier to a later version.
Suggested Keywords:
Query Table Data Compact Repair Convert Database SQL Server Access Jet DAO
ODBC Access Dbase FoxPro Paradox Btrieve Excel Utility Shareware Visual
Basic
Suggested Long Program Description:
Easily organise the tables and queries stored in any Microsoft Jet database
with such operations as import, export, attach, rename and delete.
Its split window enables you to view the tables and queries contained in
your Jet database alongside those contained in another database. This Other
Database may be another Jet database or an external database. The Jet
database engine is used by such applications as Microsoft Access. External
databases are used in other applications such as dBase, Paradox, Microsoft
Excel, ODBC databases and many others.
dBOrganiser also includes some very powerful database utilities that allows
you to backup, repair, compact or convert a database from an earlier to a
later version.
dBOrganiser is designed to be used both as a stand alone application,
suitable for the database user or developer, as well as a Jet database
application add-on. As an add-on it extends the capabilities of any Jet
database application, such as a Visual Basic application. Adding
dBOrganiser features, such as exporting to other applications (eg Microsoft
Excel), to an existing database application, gives the developer greater
functionality, with a focus on user-friendliness, at a minimal cost.

INSTALLATION
------------
The installation file has command line options that can be used to install
dBOrganiser manually. This is useful for a number of reasons. For example
installing to a network version of Windows can cause problems if the user
does not have write privileges to some of the Windows directories. Using
Manual Mode installation allows you to nominate alternative directories.
The following installation modes are available:
Test Mode
When you run the installation executable with the /T command line option,
the installation script will be tested. Although the installation will
look the same, no changes to your system will be made. No files will be
copied and no INI or Program Manager changes will be made. This mode is
useful when testing an installation script before it is distributed.
Manual Mode
The /M option runs the installation in manual mode. You will be prompted
for the locations of your Windows, System, and Temp directories. You can
specify any directories, if they do not exist they will be created. Any
changes to INI files will be saved into the Windows directory you specify.
With this option you can have the installation run without installing any
files into your real Windows and System directory. You can then manually
copy the files to their proper destination.
Extract Mode
The /X command line option allows you to extract single files from the
installation executable. The files that are contained in the installation
executable will be listed along with the file dates and sizes. You can
then select a file and choose the directory to place the file into. If you
follow the /X option with a pathname, all of the files in the installation
executable will be placed into that directory.
If the directory does not exist, it will be created. The /Z command line
option acts exactly like to /X option except Windows will be exited after
the files are extracted. This can be useful for BBS operators that want to
perform virus scanning on all of the files in the installation executable.
Silent Mode
The /S command line option must be placed at the beginning of the command
line. This option can be used to create a silent installation, no
background or progress dialogs are displayed during the installation when
this option is specified. Normally this option is followed by the pathname
of an INI file that contains all of the answers to the normal prompts
displayed during the installation. Your installation script can use these
values instead of prompting the user (using the Read INI Value script
item). This option can be useful for network administrators that wish to
install software remotely over a network.
For example to install dBOrganiser in manual mode, if using:
Windows 95/NT
select Run on the Start Button and enter: ORG32_32.EXE /M
Windows 3.1x
select Run from the File menu of File Manager and enter: ORG32_16.EXE /M

REPORTING ENHANCEMENTS/BUGS
---------------------------
From time to time, everyone comes up with an idea for something they'd like
their software to do differently. This is true of all applications, no less
dBOrganiser. If you come across an idea that you think might make a nice
enhancement to dBOrganiser, your input is always welcome.
If you experience something you think might be a bug in dBOrganiser, please
report it to us. Describe what you did, what happened, what version of
dBOrganiser you have, any error messages dBOrganiser gave, what kind of
computer you have, which operating system you're using, and anything else
you think might be relevant.
Bugs and enhancements can be sent to feedback@chiselsoftware.com, or
alternatively, you can fill out our on-line form at
http://chiselsoftware.com/feedback.html . You will receive an automated
response indicating that your report has been received and forwarded to
our technical staff. Unless additional information is needed, you will not
receive a direct response.
LICENSE AND LEGAL INFORMATION
-----------------------------
LICENSE TO USE
One copy of the shareware version of dBOrganiser may be used by a single
person for evaluation purposes without charge for 30 days. Subsequent
downloads of the shareware version by or for the same user do not extend,
renew, or otherwise restart the term of the license for the shareware
version.
One copy of the registered version of dBOrganiser may either be used by a
single person who uses the software personally on one or more computers, or
installed on a single workstation used non-simultaneously by multiple
people, but not both. You may access the registered version of dBOrganiser
through a network, provided that you have obtained individual licenses for
the software covering all workstations that will access the software
through the network. For instance, if eight different workstations will
access dBOrganiser on the network, each workstation must have its own
dBOrganiser license, regardless of whether they use dBOrganiser at different
times or concurrently. Site licenses of the software may be obtained from
Chisel Software which cover each workstation at one location.
You may make a reasonable number of copies of the registered version of the
software for backup and archival purposes.
LICENSE TO REDISTRIBUTE
