  1. The files APTIVA.CD1, APTIVA.DK2 and APTIVA.UPD in this package are images
  2. of real diskettes. To re-create the diskettes from the image files you need
  3. both XDF (eXtended Data Format) and LOADDSKF support.

  6. XDF Imaging from an OS/2 System.
  7. ----------------------------
  8. OS/2 1.X cannot be used to image these diskettes.  An OS/2 2.X system can be
  9. used.  A new file, XDFLOPPY.FLT, plus OS/2 WARP versions of IBM1FLPY.ADD and
  10. IBM2FLPY.ADD are also needed.

  12. ISA Systems.
  13.  
  14.          Rename IBM1FLPY.ADD to IBM1FLPY.OLD in the \OS2 directory.
  15.          Copy XDFLOPPY.FLT and IBM1FLPY.ADD to the OS/2 directory.
  16.          Add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS:

  18.                       BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT
  19.  
  20. IBM MicroChannel Systems.
  21.  
  22.          Rename IBM2FLPY.ADD to IBM2FLPY.OLD in the \OS2 directory.
  23.          Copy XDFLOPPY.FLT and IBM2FLPY.ADD.  Add the following line
  24.          to your CONFIG.SYS:

  26.                       BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT

  28. IBM MicroChannel Systems with separately loadable ABIOS or PCM MicroChannel
  29. Systems (Reply and NCR).
  30.  
  31.          Rename IBM1FLPY.ADD to IBM1FLPY.OLD in the \OS2 directory.
  32.          Copy XDFLOPPY.FLT and IBM1FLPY.ADD.  Add the following line
  33.          to your CONFIG.SYS:

  35.                        BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT
  36.  
  37.          Change the following line in your CONFIG.SYS:

  39.             BASEDEV=IBM2FLPY.ADD to BASEDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD /MCA

  41. Once you have completed the necessary change to CONFIG.SYS and copied the
  42. necessary files to your harddisk you must shutdown and reboot your system.

  45. XDF Imaging from a native DOS system.
  46. ---------------------------------
  47. No change to CONFIG.SYS is required.

  50. LOADDSKF can be found on Bulletin Board Systems as LDF.COM or LOADDSKF.ZIP.
  51. For LDF.COM download and enter LDF. This will create ther LOADDSKF.EXE file.
  52. For LOADDSKF.ZIP you will need PKUNZIP or UNZIP to extract the uncompressed
  53. LOADDSKF.EXE from the ZIP file.

  56. Procedure for Imaging Diskettes
  57. -------------------------------

  59. Issue the following commands from a command prompt, from a native DOS, OS/2
  60. or OS/2 DOS session:
  61.  
  62. To create the APTIVA.CD1 diskette
  63.   Put a 2MB (High Density) 3.5 diskette in A:
  64.   Either of the following methods will work:
  65.     LOADDSKF APTIVA.CD1 A: /F
  66.     XDFCOPY APTIVA.CD1 A:
  67.   Remove the diskette from A:
  68.   Label it "CD-ROM Diskette 1 - Replacement Diskette"
  69.  
  70. To create the APTIVA.DK2 diskette
  71.   Put a 2MB (High Density) 3.5 diskette in A:
  72.   XDFCOPY APTIVA.DK2 A:
  73.   Remove the diskette from A:
  74.   Label it "Diskette 2 - Replacement Diskette 2"

  77. To create the APTIVA.UPD diskette
  78.   Put a 2MB (High Density) 3.5 diskette in A:
  79.   LOADDSKF APTIVA.UPD A: /F
  80.   Remove diskette from A:
  81.   Label it "Aptiva Applications Program Update Diskette"

  84. Follow the instructions in APTIVA.DOC to use the diskettes you just created.

  86. Note 1:
  87. This diskette is in XDF format which is a new compression format that allows
  88. more data to be placed on a 3.5 HD diskette. This diskettes have a software
  89. write protection.  You cannot erase files or bundle files or add files to
  90. these diskettes.
