SLIPPMFX.ZIP (c) MingleWood Data Systems, Inc. 1996
Email: minglewood@brats.com
All Rights Reserved. All Wrongs Reversed.
A little set of files to integrate IBM's Internet Access Kit and
FaxWorks allowing you to disable FaxWork's auto-receive mode when
starting 'SLIPPM.EXE'. Before this file, one had to manually place
FaxWorks in 'Hold' or 'Receive-Off' mode before you could successfully
dial out using SLIPPM.EXE, then remember to re-enable FaxWork in
'Receive-all' mode. This is a simple workaround to automate this
procedure.
Works with the full, purchased copy of FaxWorks. Don't known if it
will work with the Bonus-Pak version; probably will.
Installation Instructions.
1. Unpack this 'Zip' file in whatever directory you choose. We used the
directory that contains the IBM Internet Access Kit, 'C:\TCPIP'.
2. Edit the unpacked file 'slippmfx.cmd', changing the hardcoded file-specs
for FaxWorks' FXRCV.EXE program to whatever the appropriate directory
is in your case. We have FaxWorks installed in 'C:\OS2STUFF\FAXWORKS'
hence the two lines 'C:\OS2STUFF\FAXWORKS\FAXRCV -OFF' and
'C:\OS2STUFF\FAXWORKS\FAXRCV -ON'. You may have FaxWorks installed in
'C:\FAXWORKS'; therefore, your two lines would be:
'C:\FAXWORKS\FAXRCV -ON' and 'C:\FAXWORKS\FAXRCV -OFF'.
3. Open the settings page for your Network Dialer or 'SLIPPM.EXE' object -
this is the icon we use to access our 'Other Internet Provider'.
4. Change the command line from 'SLIPPM.EXE' to 'SLIPPMFX.CMD'. Note that
you may have to type in a full file and pathname if the directory used
in step 1 is not on your PATH.
5. Go to the 'Session' tab and select 'OS/2 Window', 'Start minimized' and
'Close window on exit'.
6. Go to the 'General' tab. Type in 'Network Dialer' (or whatever you want)
for the 'Title' and then press the 'Find' button. When the 'Find Objects'
window comes up type in 'c:\tcpip' (or whatever directory you used in
step 1) in the 'Start folder' field then press 'Find'. A window will be
presented of all the icons located in the directory you searched. Find
the 'slippm.ico' icon, single-click on it, then press the 'Ok' button.
7. Close the 'Settings' page and enjoy.
These files are freeware, use them or trash them as you see fit.
If you do find this usefull, all we ask is that you obtain a copy of the
Grateful Dead CD 'Hundred Year Hall', put on disk-1 at volume level-11,
and jump around the room ecstatically. Aiko-Aiko.
