  1. OS/2 Warp For Windows:  Update Installation Diskettes for XR0W005
  2. 03/02/95

  4. This utility can be used to refresh your Warp 3.0 (for Windows)
  5. Installation diskettes #0 and #1 with some of the Fixpack XR0W005 files.
  6. It will work for either a Warp diskette-based or CDROM-based install.
  7.  
  8. Backup your original OS/2 Warp Installation Diskette #0 and diskette #1
  9. before running this utility.  Use the backup copy when running this utility.
  10.  
  11. This utility handles 3.5" and 5.25" installation diskettes.  If you are
  12. using 5.25" diskettes, free diskette space is very limited.  Be sure to
  13. delete any lines beginning with 'REM ' in CONFIG.SYS on the second 5.25"
  14. diskette to conserve space BEFORE running this utility.
  15.  
  16. You should unpack WFWIN5.ZIP into a directory by itself using
  17. the PKUNZIP.EXE utility.  Total space required for WFWIN5.ZIP and the
  18. un-zipped files is about 2.4 MB.
  19.  
  20. You may run this utility either from native DOS, or from Warp OS/2.
  21.  
  22. To run this utility from PC-DOS or MS-DOS,
  23.  
  24.    1. Change your directory to the directory containing the unzipped files.
  25.  
  26.    2. Type

  28.         UPDINST C: A:
  29.  
  30.         where C: is the drive where the unzipped files reside, and
  31.               A: is the diskette drive where you will be inserting
  32.                  the OS/2 Install diskette #0 and #1 that you want
  33.                  to have updated.

  35. To run this utility from Warp OS/2,
  36.  
  37.    1. Start an OS/2 Fullscreen or Windowed session.
  38.  
  39.    2. Change your directory to the directory containing the unzipped files.
  40.  
  41.    3. Type

  43.         UPDINST C: A:
  44.  
  45.         where C: is the drive where the unzipped files reside, and
  46.               A: is the diskette drive where you will be inserting
  47.                  the OS/2 Install diskette #0 and #1 that you want
  48.                  to have updated.
  49.  
  50. Please note:
  51.  
  52.   This update utility should not be run for Warp "Fullpack" Install
  53.   Diskettes.
  54.  
  55.   This utility ONLY updates your Warp Install diskettes #0 and #1.
  56.      It does not update Warp on your hard disk.
  57.  
  58.   If you run this utility multiple times against the same set of Install
  59.      diskettes, you will need to edit CONFIG.SYS and remove duplicate
  60.      lines that contain SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1.  This will conserve
  61.      valuable diskette freespace.
  62.  
  63.   When you have completed the update of your Warp Installation diskettes
  64.      #0 and #1 with this utility:
  65.  
  66.       1. If Warp is not installed on your hard disk, then
  67.          proceed with the complete Warp Install process.
  68.          This will install the *original* OS/2 Warp onto
  69.          your hard disk.
  70.  
  71.       2. When installation of OS/2 Warp is completed, you
  72.          should update Warp on your hard disk with the
  73.          full XR0W005 Corrective Service.  Obtain the
  74.          Warp fixpack "WFP_05" (3 diskettes) and the
  75.          "kicker" diskettes "WKICKR" (2 diskettes).
  76.          The "kicker" diskettes are known as the
  77.          "Corrective Service Facility diskettes" and are
  78.          used to perform the actual installation of XR0W005.
  79.  
  80.       To proceed with the Installation of OS/2 Warp,
  81.       shutdown your system and reboot with Warp Installation
  82.       diskette #0 in your diskette drive.
  83.  
  84.       If Warp is already installed on your hard drive,
  85.       then apply the XR0W005 Corrective Service (if not
  86.       already completed).
  87.  
  88.   Below is a list of files that will be replaced on the diskettes.
  89.      Note that this is a list of files that are expected to be already
  90.      on the diskettes.  Files listed below with '*' will not be updated
  91.      if not present, regardless of diskette type.  Also, files listed
  92.      below with '*' will be updated if present, even if they are not
  93.      expected to be on the diskette (shown as 'N/A').
