THINKable/DOS Announcement
September 2, 1993
THINKable/DOS was announced on August 24th as the newest member
of the IBM Independence Series. THINKable/DOS is an entry-level
version of the OS/2-based THINKable/2. It is a program that
provides remedial practice for individuals who have attention and
memory deficits that impair their abilities to function normally.
These deficits may be the result of heredity, brain injury, exposure
to toxic drugs, or acquired diseases, such as Alzheimers Syndrome.
The professionals who are most likely to use THINKable/DOS with
students or patients are:
o Special Education Teachers
o Occupational Therapists
o Speech/Language Pathologists
o Psychologists
THINKable/DOS provides controlled practice in visual attention,
visual discrimination, recent memory, and sequential memory. It uses
real pictures, natural sounding speech, touch screen input;
and it allows the teacher or therapist to set many variables.
In brief, THINKable/DOS:
o Enhances all of the clinical powers of THINKable
o Attractive pricing makes it affordable for schools and
small clinics
o MULTILINGUAL support helps French and Spanish users
o Tutorial for QuickSelect menus makes it easy to learn and use
THINKable/DOS is priced at $495 and operates on any IBM 386 or
486 PS/1, ValuePoint, EduQuest, or PS/2 system. Several audio
cards are supported, including: the IBM Audio Capture and Playback
