  8. The Unite Scanner Object, which was developed using IBM's
  9. state-of-the-art System Object Model (SOM) technology, provides
  10. accessibility to functionality available in a wide range of
  11. scanners as well as all functionality available in the Unite
  12. Image Viewer Object.  Scanners capable of scanning color and
  13. grayscale photographs as well as bitonal documents are
  14. supported.  The Unite Scanner Object uses the ANSI standard
  15. Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI), which is an industry
  16. standard for connecting peripheral devices and their controllers
  17. to microprocessors.  To ensure that users get the most from
  18. their hardware investment, the Unite Scanner Object drives the
  19. scanner hardware at its rated speed.

  23. From the VX-REXX novice to the C/C++ programmer, the Unite
  24. Scanner Object's powerful functionality is easily accessible. 
  25. The Unite Scanner Object can be integrated into development
  26. environments such as Watcom's VX-REXX, IBM's VisualAge, and
  27. coming soon, OpenDoc.  Once the object is integrated, its
  28. functionality can be implemented using drag-and-drop technology.
  29.  Fully functional 32-bit APIs are also available.  Use the Unite
  30. Scanner Object to develop the imaging application which solves
  31. your paper- and fax-based business problem.

  42. CONVENIENT SCANNER CONFIGURATION SETTINGS

  44. The Unite Scanner Object includes a fully functional,
  45. DDE-enabled executable file which creates a Unite Image Viewer
  46. Object window.  By clicking the right mouse button in this
  47. window, a pop-up menu of available methods is presented to the
  48. user.  One of the options is Set scan configuration.  The Set
  49. scan configuration option displays a three page Scanner
  50. Configuration notebook which is used to define the scanner's
  51. settings.  Scan configuration settings can be saved and recalled
  52. for subsequent use.

  54. COMPREHENSIVE IMAGING CAPABILITY

  56. All functionality included in the Unite Image Viewer Object is
  57. available with the Unite Scanner Object.  Once documents are
  58. scanned, they can be manipulated and saved in a variety of
  59. formats.  OS/2 system clipboard cut and paste is supported which
  60. makes transferring data between your OS/2 and Windows
  61. applications a snap.
