Cirrus Technology Announces the Release of Unite Storager (TM)
An OS/2 Warp Optical and CD-Recordable Jukebox Toolkit
Frederick, MD --- September 24, 1995 --- Cirrus Technology, an
OS/2 software developer, today announced the launch of
Unite Storager, a hierarchical storage management product
supporting optical and CD-recordable jukeboxes.
The SOM-based Unite Storager provides native OS/2 device driver support
for a variety of SCSI-based storage devices. A complete set of 32-bit
APIs is included to develop flexible and efficient jukebox management
applications. Unite Storager can be integrated into development environments
such as IBM's VisualAge. A graphical user interface is provided to start,
control, tune, and stop Unite Storager; and administrative functions such
as the importing, labeling and exporting of platters can be performed
using this interface. Dynamic, user-defined tuning parameters are also
available for optimizing performance.
Unite Storager takes full advantage of OS/2's multitasking capabilities
to manage thousands of store and retrieve requests while simultaneously
reading and writing to all drives in the jukebox. Unite Storager's
multi-threaded design is so efficient, it can even burn CD-recordable
discs while under the heaviest retrieval loads. Unite Storager began
shipping in September, 1995.
