  1. BETA FOR IBM LAN NETVIEW FIX

  5. The IBM LAN NetView Fix application is now available for beta testing.  The
  6. Fix product is another of the LAN NetView applications being made available
  7. for beta testing.  Product details and ordering information follow.
  8.  
  9. LAN NETVIEW FIX:
  10.  
  11. The IBM LAN NetView Fix Version 1.0 application is designed to receive and
  12. process Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP) and Simple Network Man-
  13. agement Protocol (SNMP) events in an OS/2 2.X environment.
  14.  
  15. The fix program can perform the following tasks:
  16.  
  17. o   Register for CMIP and SNMP event notifications from specified resources
  18.     on selected managed systems.
  19.  
  20. o   Receive event notification from managed systems.
  21.  
  22. o   Store events specified by the user into an IBM Database Manager database.
  23.  
  24. o   Display events specified by the user on an Event Console as they are
  25.     received.
  26.  
  27. o   Provide special handling for events that are designated as important by
  28.     the user.
  29.  
  30. o   Retransmit events that cannot be processed at the managing workstation so
  31.     that they can be received by another managing application (for example
  32.     LAN NetView Tie).  If received by Tie, the events can then be forwarded
  33.     to a NetView host.
  34.  
  35. o   Call a pager when a specified event is received.
  36.  
  37. o   Display a message pop-up when a specified event is received.
  38.  
  39. o   Invoke user-specified routines for personalized handling of received
  40.     events.

  42. WHO QUALIFIES:

  44. Qualifying applicants are:
  45.  
  46. o   Network planners and administrators who want to become familiar with the
  47.     LAN NetView Fix product.

  49. ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS:

  51. O   CURRENT BETA PARTICIPANTS:
  52.  
  53.     Customers who are currently testing with the LAN NetView Family of pro-
  54.     ducts shipped at the end of June need to complete and return the surveys
  55.     received with that shipment of Beta code. Upon receipt of those completed
  56.     surveys you will be sent the LAN NetView Fix product.

  58. O   NEW LAN NETVIEW BETA PARTICIPANTS:
  59.  
  60.     Customers may order all of the LAN NetView Family currently in Beta by
  61.     doing one of the following:
  62.  
  63.     -   In the U.S., call 1-800-IBM-3040 - You will be charged reproduction
  64.         and distribution costs.  The costs will be $100 for the user package
  65.         and $200 for the developers package, plus shipping. The Developers
  66.         package contains additional documentation for those interested in
  67.         developing their own applications.

  70.     -   In Canada, call 1-800-561-5293 - You will be charged reproduction and
  71.         distribution costs.  The costs will be $120 for the user package and
  72.         $240 for the developers package, plus shipping.  The Developers
  73.         package contains additional documentation for those interested in
  74.         developing their own applications.
