  9. The Essential Client/Server Survival Guide by Orfali, Harkey and
  10. Edwards won the Jolt Award for best computer book of 1994.  This
  11. annual award is given by a team of Miller Freeman editors and
  12. columnists to products that "jolt" the industry with their
  13. significance.  The award is co-sponsored by Software Development
  14. magazine and Jolt Cola, a high-caffeine, high-sugar soft drink known to
  15. be popular with programmers working late at night.  Award winners
  16. receive a trophy -- a can of Jolt Cola encased in lucite.

  18. Essential Client/Server Survival Guide was published by Van Nostrand
  19. Reinhold in 1994 (ISBN 0-442-01941-6, IBM SR28-5572, 495 pages, $25).
  20. The book provides a "gentle guide" to client/server and distributed
  21. objects.  An extended version of the book is "Client/Server Survival
  22. Guide with OS/2" (ISBN 0-442-01798-7, IBM SR28-5494, 970 pages, $40).
