  6. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

  8. Are you or your customers looking for an easier way to create client/
  9. server applications?  Distributed Application/2 (DA/2) is a set of APIs
  10. that simplify client/server communications in OS/2*.  These APIs hide
  11. the complexity of the supported communications protocols (APPC, NetBIOS
  12. and OS/2 named pipes), and enable you to select a protocol at run time
  13. without requiring any code change!  The DA/2 APIs have been enabled for
  14. C and REXX, or other 32 bit languages supporting C calling conventions.
  15. DA/2 can communicate with CICS and IMS using APPC.  DA/2 is easy to
  16. install and supports the CID architecture.  DA/2 DLLs can be
  17. redistributed  with your application without royalty payments.

  19. NEW FUNCTIONS FOR THIS RELEASE:

  21.  o  Access to CICS/MVS and CICS/ESA applications is provided by
  22.     a CICS Access Tool and native APPC application support in DA/2.
  23.     The CICS Access Tool is shipped with DA/2.
  24.  o  Access to IMS 4.1 is provided by the IMS V4.1 native LU 6.2
  25.     capability and the native APPC application support in DA/2.
  26.     (Previous versions of IMS are still supported as in DA/2 V1.1)
