MDI INTRODUCES THE EXPRESS-WRITER
WRITABLE CD-ROM TECHNOLOGY
WINTER PARK, FL. _ September 1, 1995 _ Micro Design International,
Inc. (MDI) introduces the Express-Writer, an affordable, recordable
compact disc system that allows users to easily create compact
discs within minutes. The Express-Writer is actually three drives
in one: As a recorder, the Express-Writer allows you to write your
own master discs which can be easily read, stored, duplicated, and
transported. As a double-speed player, Express-Writer can read
virtually any CD. As a backup device, the Express-Writer supplies
a reliable, fast, and affordable alternative to tape drives. This
is the premier CD-R solution for OS/2 environments.
With its double speed capability, the Express-Writer can record a
disc to its full capacity in about 30 minutes. Express-Writer's
built-in, very large 1 MB cache buffer helps prevent interruption
of the data flow, which can result in ruined discs. Its
multisession capability allows you to add data as you go or all at
one time.
SCSI Express-Writer software for OS/2, the only CD-R solution for
OS/2 environments, offers a premastering utility featuring drag-n-
drop object manipulation. This software provides the choice of
arranging data in either ISO 9660 format or non-ISO 9660 customized
naming. Once the information is stored, the ISO 9660 CDs can be
read by any operating system that supports the ISO 9660 format,
offering flexibility for environments with multiple operating
system platforms. By first creating a virtual image on your hard
disk, SCSI Express-Writer software allows you to add, modify,
delete, and position files on the hard disc before you commit to
the CD-R master disc. MDI offers bundled solutions which include
the Express-Writer, one GB or two GB hard disk, SCSI Express-Writer
software for OS/2, and a starter set of twenty-five writable
compact discs.
Replace your tape drive backup with the Express-Writer to provide a
higher degree of performance, reliability, and faster random access
to your data, for as little as four cents per megabyte. The
Express- Writer can be attached to a network to backup and archive
data on CD-R discs. Archival CD-Rs can be moved to a single CD-
ROM drive or to a multiple drive unit shared across the network.
Archived data can then be easily and quickly accessed by all on the
network.
Micro Design International, Inc. is a mass storage solution
provider delivering hardware and software designed for today's
rapidly changing marketplace. MDI's SCSI Express for NetWare
recently won Network Computing magazine's prestigious Editor's
Choice award as best of breed software for networking CD-ROMs.

disk, multifunction, rewritable, WORM, and optical and CD-ROM
jukeboxes. MDI has achieved its second year placement on Inc.
magazine's list of the fastest growing privately-held companies in
