  1. IBM EXTENDS VIRUS PROTECTION TO NOVELL NETWARE SERVERS

  4. Yorktown Heights, N.Y., December 7 ... IBM is now shipping
  5. an enhanced version of its IBM AntiVirus products, including
  6. protection for Novell* NetWare* LAN servers.  IBM AntiVirus
  7. version 1.04 provides comprehensive "install-and-forget" au-
  8. tomatic protection against computer virus attacks in DOS,
  9. Windows**, OS/2*** and Novell NetWare computing environ-
  10. ments.

  12.      IBM AntiVirus for NetWare uses the same state-of-the-
  13. art detection technology used throughout IBM AntiVirus pro-
  14. ducts.  It detects well over 2,000 known viruses as well as
  15. many viruses that have yet to be written, while virtually
  16. eliminating the false alarms that plague many other anti-
  17. virus products.

  19.     Real-time scanning enables the LAN server to protect it-
  20. self immediately if a virus on a client PC is found trying
  21. to infect the LAN server.  LAN administrators also can scan
  22. selected volumes on demand, or schedule a scan for
  23. particular times on selected days.  If a virus is found,
  24. customized messages can be sent to the affected user and ad-
  25. ministrators, and any infected files can be locked to pre-
  26. vent the infection from spreading.  IBM AntiVirus for
  27. NetWare is designed to have minimal impact on LAN server
  28. performance.  Its automatic priority adjustment keeps the
  29. additional load to less than 4% for typical
  30. servers.

  34. rapid, reliable updates for viruses discovered in customer
  35. incidents.
