  27. BookManager (R) is a family of products that provides support for
  28. customers who want to build and read softcopy publications.
  29. BookManager's cross-platform compatibility makes it the ideal
  30. solution for any business to use to serve up books internally or on
  31. the World Wide Web.
  32.  
  33. BookManager BUILD for OS/2 (R) Version 3.0 combines the functions of
  34. two different BUILD products (IBM BookManager BUILD for OS/2 and IBM
  35. BookManager BUILD SGML for OS/2) into one product, while providing
  36. other new functions.  The following enhancements have been added:
  37.  
  38. o  Support for building books from documents authored in Lotus
  39.    WordPro '96
  40.  
  41. o  Support for building books from documents saved as Rich Text
  42.    Format (RTF) files
  43.  
  44. o  Support for building books written in Double Byte (DBCS) language
  45.    versions of Microsoft (R) Word and SGML (Japanese, Simplified
  46.    Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean)
  47.  
  48. o  Support for building graphics included by reference in the source
  49.    document
  50.  
  51. o  Support for ignoring text based on style
  52.  
  53. o  Support for JPEG graphics

  66. BUILD for OS/2 Version 3.0 is also packaged on the same CD as
  67. BookManager BUILD for Windows (R) NT Version 2.1.  A single license
  68. entitles the user to install either BookManager BUILD for OS/2 or
  69. BookManager BUILD for Windows NT.  Multiple products or multiple
  70. language translations may be installed by purchasing additional
  71. licenses.

  96. the ideal solution for any business to use to serve up books

  121. programs in any of the supported environments.  Terms and conditions
  122. for use of the machine-readable files are shipped with the files.

  139.    system.

  151. or on a different machine.  The following describes the requirements
  152. for installing and using this utility:

  155.    capable of running the operating system.  A 486SX at 66MHZ or
  156.    higher system unit is recommended.

  158. o  One CD-ROM device for installation.

  162. o  A total of 24MB combined RAM and swapper space is recommended.

  203. There are no security or auditability features in IBM BookManager
  204. BUILD for OS/2 V3.0 and BUILD NT.

  206. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and
  207. implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and
  208. appropriate controls in application systems and communication
  209. facilities.

  211. ORDERING INFORMATION

  213. Some changes have been made to the terminology used for IBM software.
  214. These changes do not affect terms and conditions, charges, or
  215. ordering processes.

  217. Key elements are:

  219. o  License:  The license shows rights and obligations that complement
  220.    copyright protection provided by law, and applies to all use of
  221.    IBM software.
  222.  
  223. o  Charging:  IBM software is charged according to the number of Use
  224.    Authorizations acquired.  Definition of this Use and its
  225.    associated charges for a given product are stated in the product
  226.    announcement.  Use Authorizations come with the Program Package or
  227.    are available separately, and may be for users or resources.  They
  228.    are reflected as Proofs of Entitlement (PoE), provided by IBM.

  230.    Use Authorizations continue to be available for some products in
  231.    use-packs of 1, 5, 10, and 50.

  233. o  Supply of Code:  The software program itself will be available in
  234.    various forms; for example, on magnetic media, CD-ROM, or
  235.    electronically.  This supply is accompanied by a Use
  236.    Authorization.

  382. number 84H6401 shortly after general availability.

  384. Program Upgrade

  386. The program package upgrade option allows currently licensed users of
  387. IBM BookManager BUILD for OS/2 V1.2/V2.0/V2.1 or BUILD SGML to obtain
  388. the new function for a program upgrade charge.  The program upgrade
  389. to IBM BookManager BUILD for OS/2 V.30 will be available
  390. May 30, 1997.  Orders will be accepted after May 27, 1997.  These
  391. upgrades will be available through IBM Authorized Software Dealers
  392. and Industry Remarketers -- Personal Computers certified to market
  393. IBM Authorized Advanced Products.  The remarketer will require a
  394. Proof of License for each upgrade ordered.  The original Proof of
  395. License is the PoE card included with the box or the IBM Direct
  396. invoice, if the product was purchased softcopy.

  398. Customers can also order upgrades through the local IBM office.  End
  399. user customers may acquire upgrades up to the number of qualifying
  400. programs for which they are currently authorized.  Use Authorization
