  27. IBM BookManager(R) BookServer for World Wide Web for OS/2(R),
  28. Version 2.1 reads BookManager electronic books, dynamically converts
  29. them into HTML and serves them across the Internet to Web browsers.

  31. This version of BookManager BookServer for World Wide Web for OS/2,
  32. an upgrade to the existing version, includes the following
  33. enhancements:

  35. o  A new level of organization called bookcases, which can contain
  36.    other bookcases or bookshelves
  37. o  Support for creating, updating and deleting bookshelves and
  38.    bookcases
  39. o  Find any book on the server by title, name or document number

  74. DESCRIPTION
  75.  
  76. The past several years have seen a dramatic growth in the use of the
  77. Internet as a medium for electronic publishing.  With IBM's
  78. BookManager Bookserver for OS/2, you can serve entire libraries of
  79. documents to your own internal corporate network and to HTML browsers
  80. connected to the World Wide Web.  BookManager's cross-platform
  81. compatibility makes it the ideal solution for any business to serve
  82. up books internally or on the web.

  84. REFERENCE INFORMATION
  85.  
  86. The new version of BookManager Bookserver for OS/2 (84H1512)
  87. replaces, for ordering purposes, the prior version, part number
  88. 33H6359.  The U.S. English version will be available beginning
  89. July 31, 1996, and the translated version on October 31, 1996.  Until
  90. October 31, 1996, order 33H6359 (or its related additional license
  91. number) if you want a translated version.

  93. PUBLICATIONS

  95. All product related publications are included in softcopy format with
  96. the product.

  98. Displayable Softcopy Publications:  IBM BookManager publications are
  99. offered in displayable softcopy format on the same media type as the
  100. basic machine-readable material.  These displayable manuals can be
  101. used with the BookManager READ or Library Reader(TM) licensed
  102. programs in any of the supported environments.  Terms and conditions
  103. for use of the machine-readable files are shipped with the files.

  111. o  A personal computer with a 100MHz/486DX4 or 75MHz Pentium
  112.    processor (minimum) capable of running the required software,
  113.    including a display and pointing device

  115. o  A CD-ROM device

  117. o  16MB (minimum) of available random access memory (RAM); 32-48MB
  118.    RAM is recommended
  119.  
  120. o  10MB of available HPFS hard-disk storage
  121.  
  122.    Note: Allow an additional 0.5KB hard-disk storage for each book
  123.    listed in the BookServer Catalog, regardless of where the book
  124.    resides.  In addition, allow sufficient DASD space for caching of
  125.    images, and locally residing .BOO, .BKS, and .BKI files.

  144. Planning Information

  146. BookManager BookServer is distributed on CD-ROM or it can be
  147. downloaded from the Internet.  Product information on BookManager
  148. products as well as ordering information and downloading links are
  149. available on the BookManager Home Page on the Internet, one of
  150. several entry points for BookManager products.  The URL for the

  155. Hypertext fields on the home page include links for product and
  156. ordering information.  When ordering information is selected, the
  157. Product Download WWW Server will give you instructions on how to
  158. unpack and execute the Electronic Showcase tool.  If you have not
  159. previously run Electronic Showcase or CD Showcase(TM) Showcase, you
  160. will be asked to specify your country so that the following product
  161. information can be presented in a suitable language:

  174. To obtain the de-cryption key in the U.S. and Canada, contact one of

  180. The customer calls the phone number appropriate for his country from
  181. the list in the product information notebook described above.

  183. Prior to purchasing the product, the product license agreement is
  184. displayed.  The user must accept the license agreement.  The user
  185. then enters the customer number and key, and clicks on the Save
  186. button to save the key and unlock the product.  Once the key has been
  187. saved, the user must press the copy button in Electronic Showcase to
  188. copy and decrypt the product files onto the users hard drive.  The
  189. product files consist of a packed file containing the product and a
  190. README file containing instructions on how to install the product.

  192. For customers who have an existing IBM account on file, IBM will
  193. process an order following normal ordering instructions and credit
  194. verification.  The de-cryption key will be distributed after order
  195. processing.  For those customers who do not have customer information
  196. on file with IBM, IBM will process the customer information and, upon
  197. completion of the processing, issue the de-cryption key.

  199. Customers can order an additional license with certificate from an
  200. IBM software distributor or remarketer or an IBM representative.

  340. Upgrade Protection (Entitled Customers):  Customers who have
  341. previously acquired Software Advantage Upgrade Protection part
  342. numbers 33H6363, 33H6364, 31H6244 or 31H6245 will automatically
  343. receive upgrade part number 84H1516 shortly after general
  344. availability.

  346. Program Upgrade
  347.  
  348. The program package upgrade option allows currently licensed users of
  349. IBM BookManager BookServer for OS/2 Version 2.0 to obtain the new
  350. function for a program upgrade charge.  The program upgrade to IBM
  351. BookManager BookServer for OS/2 Version 2.1 will be available
  352. July 31, 1996.  Orders will be accepted after July 30, 1996.  These
  353. upgrades will be available through IBM Authorized Personal Computer
  354. Dealers and Industry Remarketers -- Personal Computers certified to
  355. market IBM Authorized Advanced Products.  The remarketer will require
  356. a Proof of License for each upgrade ordered.  The original proof of
  357. license is the colored front cover page (inside the hard binder) or
  358. the separate proof of license page in the program package as
  359. identified by IBM to the remarketer.

  361. Customers can also order upgrades through the local IBM office using
  362. the IBM Personal Software Program Upgrade and Certification Order
  363. Form included with this announcement.  The total quantity of upgrades
  364. acquired for a specific program cannot exceed the total quantity of
  365. program packages and/or additional licenses previously acquired for
  366. that program.  Proof of License for upgrade eligibility for
  367. additional license upgrades is a copy of this invoice or previously
  368. acquired Proof of Entitlement for Additional License -- with
  369. Certificate.  Additional license upgrades can be entered through the
  370. local IBM office using the IBM Personal Software Program Upgrade and
